BBC to Release Documentary Early Next Year Exploring the Truth Behind the UK Vaping Boom
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is set to release a documentary that takes an in-depth look at the truth behind the UK’s vaping boom.
According to a December 8 report by the Lancashire Telegraph, the BBC will launch a documentary in 2024 titled What’s In Your Vape?, exploring the reality behind the rapid rise of vaping in the UK.
In recent years, the number of young people using vaping devices in the UK has surged. Data shows that annual sales in the UK have now exceeded £1.3 billion.
But do people really know what is inside these vapes? What are they made of, how are they made, and where are they made? What chemicals are in the e-liquid? How much nicotine do they actually contain? Which products are legally sold, and which are not?
To answer these and more questions, BBC host and vape user Jordan North (JoRDAn North) will meet with scientists testing new vaping devices and researchers studying the possible long-term effects of vaping, while also investigating the issue of illegal vapes in the UK.
Jordan said: “I’ve always wanted to make a documentary, and I’m really interested in this topic. As a vaping enthusiast, I really want to know what’s inside my vape!”
Executive producer Andrew Eastel said:
“That’s why it is more important than ever for us to better understand what is actually inside vapes, how they are made and where they come from, which types or brands of vapes may pose risks, and what impact vaping could have on users’ health in the long term.”
The documentary What’s In Your Vape? will air in early 2024 on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
