Vietnam's Kon Tum Province Busts Major Smuggling Case, Seizes 1,000 Vaping Devices
Vietnam's Kon Tum Province Market Surveillance Bureau recently cracked a major smuggling case, seizing a large quantity of goods of unknown origin, including 720 fireworks and 1,000 vaping devices.
According to a Dec. 7 report by Vietnamese media outlet Baomoi, the Kon Tum Province Market Surveillance Bureau recently uncovered a large-scale smuggling case involving a substantial batch of goods with unidentified origins. The seized contraband included both everyday consumer goods and various electronic products, including 720 fireworks and 1,000 vaping devices.
The use of large trucks by traders to smuggle goods has already drawn the attention of the Kon Tum Province Market Surveillance Bureau. The bureau's Market Inspection Team No. 2 spotted two suspicious cargo trucks on National Highway 14 and conducted an administrative inspection in accordance with procedure.
Enforcement officers found a wide variety of goods of unknown origin, including 720 fireworks, 1,000 vaping devices, as well as various imported medicines, health supplements, herbicides, and insecticides.
The case is now under further investigation. Observers are calling for a tough crackdown on goods smuggling in order to maintain a fair and competitive market environment.
