Australia to Ban Disposable Vape Imports From 2024, Tighten Rules for Therapeutic Vape Imports
The Australian government will comprehensively ban imports of disposable vaping devices in 2024 and tighten licensing requirements for therapeutic vape imports in order to regulate the vaping market.
According to a news flash from News-Medical, the Australian federal cabinet has formally decided that, starting January 1, 2024, imports of disposable vaping devices will be banned. At the same time, rules governing therapeutic vapes have been improved to help people who want to quit smoking.
Starting March 1, 2024, the Australian government will also strengthen the relevant legislation, including ending personal imports of vapes, banning imports of non-therapeutic vapes, and requiring importers and manufacturers of therapeutic vapes to report to the Therapeutic Goods Administration that their products comply with relevant product standards. They will also need to obtain a license and import permit from the Australian Government's Office of Drug Control.
