Former Bangladesh Government Officials Call for Legislation to Ban E-Cigarettes
Calls are growing louder from former Bangladeshi government officials to ban e-cigarettes, citing concerns over their harm to public health.
According to a recent report by Bangladeshi media outlet tbsnews, former government officials are urging the country to enact a law banning e-cigarettes.
During a meeting, they emphasized the harmful effects of e-cigarettes on public health, attributing rising addiction rates among the younger generation to misinformation and the strategic efforts of tobacco companies to establish an e-cigarette market in Bangladesh.
Speakers warned that e-cigarettes pose a serious threat to public health in Bangladesh.
They pointed out that the use of e-cigarettes sharply increases the risk of various diseases, including cancer, heart disease, hypertension, and stroke.
Former officials are concerned that the lack of proper legislation could worsen the spread of e-cigarettes in the country. They therefore stressed the need for necessary measures to prevent the import, marketing, and use of e-cigarettes through legislative action.
