UK Labour Backs Prime Minister Sunak’s Anti-Smoking Policy

 The UK Labour Party supports Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's anti-smoking policy, which includes a historic move to raise the legal smoking age.

According to a report by The Sun on October 10, Labour member and Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves stated to the media that the party backs Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's anti-smoking policy.

Current Prime Minister Sunak (a Conservative) is implementing historic measures against cigarettes, planning to limit the number of smokers by raising the legal age each year until no one smokes anymore. Reeves stated, "We must resist the leading preventable cause of disease, disability, and death." 

Sunak indicated that the anti-smoking plan will be subject to a "free vote" in Parliament, meaning party leaders will not instruct MPs on how to vote.
