Dunstable shop owner fined more than GBP 2,000 for selling illegal vapes

A shop owner in Dunstable, UK, has been fined over GBP 2,000 for selling illegal electronic cigarettes.

According to a report by Bedfordshire Live on September 18, the shop owner in Dunstable was fined over GBP 2,000 by the Central Bedfordshire Council for selling illegal electronic cigarettes.

Following public complaints, the Central Bedfordshire Council inspected Loco Ltd in September 2022. During the inspection, 46 illegal electronic cigarettes were seized.

The case was heard on Friday, August 25, at Luton Magistrates' Court, where Mr. Gandhi, the manager of Loco Ltd, admitted to five offenses under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016, one offense under the Consumer Protection Act, and one under the 2008 Unfair Trading Regulations. He was found guilty of selling electronic cigarette products that did not meet strict legal requirements.

As a result of the illegal electronic cigarettes found and seized at his premises, he received a fine of GBP 2,410 and was ordered by the court to forfeit and destroy the seized materials.
