UK shop fined more than £2,000 for selling illegal vaping devices

A shop in Dunstable has been fined more than £2,000 for selling illegal vaping devices.

According to a Sept. 12 report from lutontoday, a shop in Dunstable was fined more than £2,000 for selling illegal vaping devices. 

After a local resident complained about the shop, Central Bedfordshire Council carried out an inspection at Loco Ltd and found 46 illegal vaping devices, which were subsequently confiscated by the local authority. 

At a hearing at Luton Magistrates’ Court, the shop’s manager, Mr. Gandhi, admitted five offenses under the UK Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016, as well as one offense under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. 

He was convicted for selling vaping devices that did not meet legal requirements and was fined a total of £2,410 in penalties related to the illegal vaping devices found and seized in his shop. 

Rebecca Hares, Central Bedfordshire Council’s Executive Member for Health and Community Liaison, said:

“I would like to thank the members of the public who reported this criminal activity, and also thank council staff for their hard work in securing this successful prosecution.
