Breaking news: According to a September 6 report from Northumberland Gazette, Trading Standards officers from Northumberland County Council’s Public Protection Service seized a large number of imported vaping devices during a routine inspection in the southeast of the county. Product names included Hatati Pro Max 4000, Elux 2500, and Prime Bars.
The seized devices were not registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and therefore cannot legally be sold in the UK. Some devices did not comply with UK safety regulations, with capacities up to six times the permitted limit, containing lithium batteries, or lacking adequate product labeling.
Cabinet member Councillor Gordon Stewart said: “Our Trading Standards team is working hard to remove these illegal products from sale and to ensure that any risks they pose are eliminated.”
“All local businesses selling vaping devices should understand the importance of playing their part in complying with their legal obligations. We urge businesses to check their stock, remove any non-compliant products from sale, and return them to their suppliers.
