South American country Suriname has banned the sale of all e-cigarette products, becoming one of eight South American countries that have newly joined the ban on new tobacco products.
[Two Supremes Express] According to the Suriname Daily on August 28, Suriname has banned the sale of all e-cigarette products. Under the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), Suriname has now been listed as one of eight South American countries newly joining the ban on new tobacco products.
The World Health Organization said on Friday that, with Venezuela’s recent ban on the use and marketing of e-cigarettes, there are now 21 countries in the Americas regulating e-cigarettes and electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) such as e-cigarettes.
The eight countries newly joining this initiative are Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The Pan American Health Organization said these countries have completely banned sales, while 13 other countries have partially or fully adopted one or more regulatory measures.
A report by the Pan American Health Organization noted that 14 countries in the Americas, including the Caribbean region, lack any regulation of e-cigarette products.
