As e-cigarette sales keep growing, Switzerland launches a recycling program for discarded e-cigarett
In recent years, e-cigarette sales in Switzerland have continued to grow. In 2022, Switzerland imported 10 million e-cigarette products. As the e-cigarette market expands, the environmental damage caused by discarded e-cigarettes has become an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed. At present, most discarded e-cigarettes ultimately end up in landfills instead of being recycled in accordance with Switzerland’s Ordinance on the Return, Take-Back and Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
To address this issue, SENS eRecycling recently worked with various partners to develop an industry solution for the environmentally friendly disposal of e-cigarettes.

Under this solution, SENS eRecycling will deliver e-cigarette recycling bags to all e-cigarette retail outlets. These bags can be used to collect returned e-cigarettes and mailed back to SENS eRecycling. Retail outlets and consumers can also hand over used e-cigarettes to SENS collection points across Switzerland, helping prevent discarded e-cigarettes from being littered or sent to landfill.
