On August 27, officials reported that Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew recently met with representatives of the Action on Smoking and Health Foundation and Phuket Smoke-Free News at an event held at the Royal Phuket City Hotel, where they signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen control measures related to access to tobacco and vaping devices.

Officials said it is necessary to strictly ban the sale of such products through law enforcement and maintain close monitoring, especially regarding access to vaping devices, which have become increasingly popular among young people. Phuket, one of Thailand’s largest islands, is a world-famous resort destination thanks to its natural scenery and wide range of activities. However, large numbers of tourists have also brought vaping habits to the island, leading teenagers and young adults to take an interest in these new forms of smoking.
