The Number of Vaping Users in Argentina Is Growing Exponentially

On August 27, news emerged that Juan Facundo Teme, president of the Argentine vaping association (AsoVape Argentina), stated that based on existing official data and additional scientific and online survey data conducted by the Argentine vaping association, it is estimated that there are currently about 1 million vaping users in Argentina. Statistics show that these users primarily use disposable devices. Due to the issuance of bans, Argentine vaping users can only purchase products through informal markets or by mail order, still relying on several traditional channels such as stores, social media, or online platforms. Vaping users are aware of the risks they face when purchasing through informal channels, leading to a strong collective awareness.

As early as 2011, the Argentine National Food, Drug, and Medical Technology Administration (ANMAT) prohibited the import, distribution, promotion, and advertising of vaping products. On March 28, 2023, the Argentine Ministry of Health issued new regulations on vaping, completely banning the import and sale of vaping devices and their accessories, as well as prohibiting the use of heated tobacco products.
