Russia Submits Draft Ban on E-Cigarette Flavorings, Potentially Covering All Flavor Additives
According to a report by the Russian news agency TASS on August 8, Artem Metrelev, chairman of the Youth Policy Committee of the Russian State Duma, stated that a government draft regulation to ban the use of e-cigarette flavor additives will soon be submitted to the Russian Cabinet.

It is reported that the draft regulation plans to prohibit all artificial and natural flavors and food additives, including those containing harmful and dangerous compounds, stimulants, sweeteners, colorants, and other additives that may give the impression that electronic nicotine products are harmless or low-risk.
The Youth Policy Committee believes that all flavorings that create a false sense of safety and manipulate consumer choices should be excluded. Metrelev stated that flavors like e-cigarette gum and candy are merely a ruse aimed at getting young people addicted to nicotine.
This initiative aims to protect young people from the harms of e-cigarettes. As e-cigarettes become rampant among Russian youth, relevant regulations in Russia are continuously tightening. The consumer market will continue to monitor whether Russia ultimately implements a complete ban on e-cigarette flavor additives.
