According to U.S. medical media reports, the FDA recently allocated $3.9 million to fund researchers at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center Tobacco Research Center to evaluate the impact of e-cigarette flavors on the smoking behavior of current adult smokers.

Reports indicate that this study, led by Dr. Theodore Wagener, director of the Tobacco Research Center at Ohio State University, and Dr. Tracy Smith from the Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina, will provide precise information on the effects of non-tobacco e-cigarette flavors in helping adult smokers quit smoking for the first time.

It was mentioned that Theodore Wagener clearly stated that this study will provide urgently needed scientific data to inform the FDA's regulation of e-cigarette flavor use. He pointed out that the FDA must decide how to balance the goals of protecting minors and providing harm reduction products for adults. This research will generate critical data to help the FDA achieve this balance.
