UK’s First Full-Chain Recycling Program for Disposable E-Cigarettes Launched

Core tip: Today’s news, May 23, according to foreign media, e-cigarette closed-system solutions provider FEELM and vaping brand RELX have teamed up to launch the UK e-cigarette industry...

Today, on May 23, it was reported that FEELM, a provider of closed system solutions for e-cigarettes, has partnered with the e-cigarette brand RELX to launch the UK's first full-chain recycling program for disposable e-cigarette devices.

This initiative aims to address growing consumer concerns about the disposal of single-use products and their environmental impact when they end up in landfills.

According to the independent non-profit organization MATerial Focus, the UK discards 1.3 million disposable e-cigarette devices each week, and over a year, the lithium contained in these devices could power 1,200 electric vehicles.

Additionally, market research by Opinium indicates that approximately 168 million disposable e-cigarettes are purchased annually in the UK, with half being thrown away with regular trash instead of being disposed of in e-waste recycling bins or returned to retailers.

In this new initiative, FEELM, the flagship brand of smoore, will collaborate with disposable e-cigarette supplier RELX to implement a sustainability strategy that will benefit their business partners, customers, and the broader community.

The initiative involves a household collection system, transparent recycling processes, and retail partnerships to make it as easy as possible for consumers to participate.

Consumers can send used e-cigarettes to FEELM using prepaid postage labels downloaded online or by visiting one of their retail partners. The household collection system simplifies the recycling process, making it more accessible to a wider audience.

To encourage consumer participation in the recycling program, FEELM plans to introduce an incentive mechanism. For every 10 used devices returned, RELX will provide a brand new RELX Magic Go disposable e-cigarette utilizing FEELM Max technology.

By fostering a recycling mindset and enhancing recycling education, the company aims to create a more environmentally conscious community actively engaged in sustainable practices.

FEELM and RELX hope to raise environmental awareness among end users by providing a comprehensive and convenient recycling method, instilling trust in the recycling system, and encouraging consumers to contribute to environmental protection.
