Xining: further standardizing the vaping market order
Qinghai Daily Media, May 18 (Reporter Tan Mei) To further standardize the operating order of the vaping market, on May 16, the Xining Municipal Administration for Market Regulation, together with the Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Municipal Tobacco Monopoly Bureau, carried out a special law enforcement inspection of the vaping device market within Xining’s jurisdiction.
This special enforcement action focused on whether business operators were engaged in illegal or non-compliant practices in the sale of vaping devices, including operating without a license, operating beyond their approved business scope, selling vaping devices to minors, and selling disguised or modified vaping devices such as “milk tea cups” and “cola cups” with misleading packaging. At the same time, operators were educated on the Electronic Cigarette Administration Measures, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Minors, the mandatory national standards for vaping devices, and the harms of vaping. Operators were required to strictly comply with the law and exercise self-discipline, and were expressly prohibited from selling vaping devices or cigarettes to minors. So far, the inspection team has inspected 57 business premises around 8 middle and primary schools in Xining, as well as commercial areas such as Limeng Commercial Street and Wanda Commercial Street. These inspections have further standardized the operating order of the vaping market.

It is reported that Xining’s market regulation authorities will continue to strengthen coordination with public security, tobacco, and other departments, leverage their respective functional advantages, improve regulatory efficiency, make full use of the 12315 channel to receive public supervision, and continue carrying out in-depth rectification of vaping devices and market practices around primary and secondary schools, in order to further protect minors from the harms of tobacco products.
