Multiple Departments in Songtao, Guizhou Launch Special Rectification Campaign on Tobacco Retailers

On April 20, the People's Procuratorate of Songtao County, Guizhou Province, in conjunction with the County Tobacco Bureau, the County Market Supervision Administration, and the County Public Security Bureau, formed a joint inspection team to carry out a special rectification campaign on cigarette retail stores around schools.

During the campaign, the inspection team focused on conducting a "carpet-style" investigation around primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in the county to check for illegal sales of cigarettes and e-cigarettes to minors. They strictly investigated and dealt with violations of selling tobacco to minors and further educated retail merchants on relevant laws such as the Tobacco Monopoly Law of the People's Republic of China and the Law on the Protection of Minors of the People's Republic of China, urging merchants to operate legally and help create a good social environment. At the same time, the inspection team also conducted a comprehensive "look back" on the cigarette retailers that should be removed within a 50-meter radius of schools, ensuring that there are no sales of cigarettes or e-cigarettes around primary and secondary schools and kindergartens.

In the next step, the Songtao Procuratorate will continue to leverage its prosecutorial functions, increase supervision of the tobacco retail market around schools, implement special actions into the "Rule of Law into Campus" activities, and promote social governance through prosecutorial suggestions, actively safeguarding the healthy growth of minors.
