U.S. FDA to Hold Public Hearing on Vaping Manufacturing Rules on April 12
Today, on April 12, it was reported that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will hold a public hearing tomorrow (April 12) to discuss its proposed guidelines for e-cigarette products manufacturers. The agency will weigh public opinions and stakeholder views, such as those from vapor manufacturing companies that produce these products, before finalizing its rules.

The FDA will also convene its Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee on May 18 to hear from these independent experts. The proposed rules will apply to all FDA-regulated bulk and finished tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, and e-cigarettes.
The hearing provides an opportunity for public oral comments on the agency's proposed rules for tobacco product manufacturing standards. The FDA is proposing new requirements for e-cigarette and other tobacco product manufacturers regarding their product manufacturing, design, packaging, and storage.
Registration also includes a listening-only option for those who wish to attend the meeting but do not want to request to speak.
When announcing the hearing, the FDA stated that speaking slots are limited, and the agency cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. The agency requests that groups and organizations select one spokesperson to help the agency hear as many different viewpoints as possible.
The deadline for registering to provide oral comments is March 31, 2023. The oral meeting will be recorded, and a transcript will be added to the summary of the proposed rules.
