Today's news, March 30: According to foreign media reports today, lawmakers in the U.S. state of Vermont have taken an important first step toward banning flavored tobacco products and e-liquids.
The Senate gave initial approval to bill S.18.
The bill would ban the retail sale of flavored cigarettes, vaping products, and e-liquid.
It would also require the attorney general's office to report on the extent to which Vermont can legally restrict advertising and regulate product labeling.
Sen. Ginny Lyons, D-Chittenden County, said the goal is to protect the health of Vermont children, who find these products appealing.
