According to foreign media reports, Connecticut Attorney General William Tong hopes that the funds obtained from the JUUL settlement can be used to combat youth smoking and nicotine use.
As part of a multi-state settlement with Juul, Connecticut will receive $16 million, out of a total settlement of $438.5 million across the states.
William Tong plans to donate the funds to health advocacy organizations in the future, with the goal of educating young people across Connecticut and informing the public about the harms of tobacco to the human body.
The agreement was reached after Connecticut investigators conducted an investigation into the tobacco market and sales.
