SMOK R-Kiss 200W Dual-Battery Mod Review: Although SMOK’s product rollout slowed somewhat in the second half of the year, its two recent releases have each had their own distinct appeal. The SMOK MAGGRIP focused on an unconventional look, while the SMOK R-Kiss featured here today puts more emphasis on showing that a dual-battery mod can still have the compact size of a single-battery device.
The R-Kiss has a fairly conventional appearance, but it still offers plenty worth praising. Its most obvious highlight is its clean design and compact body. In particular, fitting a dual-battery mod into a form factor comparable to a single-battery device is still quite rare in the history of vaping devices.
Its design is simple and generous, without excessive decoration, which instead conveys a minimalist kind of beauty. In fact, the body surface is not completely flat; it incorporates raised elements and beveled cuts. These mainly serve to enhance its visual appeal while adding a sense of mechanical motion and stylish aesthetics.
The R-Kiss measures 44 × 28 × 77 mm. Judging from these dimensions alone, it would typically be considered the size of a single-battery mod, so for the dual-18650-powered R-Kiss, the compactness of the design is easy to appreciate. It may not be the smallest dual-battery mod ever made, but it certainly feels delightfully compact in the hand.
Its compact size not only better matches the aesthetic preferences of Chinese consumers, but more importantly provides an excellent grip and improves portability. In actual use, the R-Kiss does not feel bulky or overstretched in the hand like many dual-battery mods. It is comfortable to hold, thanks to chamfered edges around the body. As far as hand feel goes, “comfortable” is the perfect word to describe it.
The front of the R-Kiss has a design that resembles an angry little figure, giving it a very appealing visual style. Beneath the black panel is an ultra-clear TFT display. The logo at the top of the panel is especially eye-catching and gives the product strong brand recognition.
Once the UI is lit up, the screen layout appears very clean and straightforward. Output mode, vaping effect, operating voltage, battery level, resistance, and other data are all clear at a glance. A clean and easy-to-read UI like this feels far more practical, because too much on-screen information can actually distract the user.
Both sides of the R-Kiss use a symmetrical design, with large black panels inlaid on each side. The curved treatment further improves the grip. The left-side panel serves as the fire key, a classic SMOK design, and the convenience of this firing method hardly needs any explanation.
The R-Kiss chipset supports only wattage mode. After all, wattage mode is the mainstream setting most users actually use, while modes like temperature control and curve mode are generally left untouched by average users, since they require more specific coil setups and parameter adjustments. This is why the UI remains so clean and clear, and it also makes the mod extremely easy to operate. The only function users need to learn is how to change the screen color: simply press the + and - buttons at the same time.
Personally, I think the signal-light-style design on the UI is a thoughtful touch and one of the more distinctive highlights of the R-Kiss. Changing the screen color creates different visual effects and can easily freshen up the overall vaping experience. The four colors also generally correspond to the product color options, and matching the display color to the device body creates a more cohesive overall look—though of course that depends on personal taste.
The battery door on the bottom of the R-Kiss also uses SMOK’s classic design, making it simple and convenient to open and close. As for the top section, I personally think that making the 510 connector slightly raised would help prevent atomizers from scratching the paint finish on the top surface.
The atomizer paired with the R-Kiss is the TFV8 Baby V2, which currently appears quite frequently. Since it was already covered earlier, I won’t go into a detailed review here in the interest of saving readers’ valuable time. If you want to learn more, you can directly click “A Bigger Cloud Maker: Understand the SMOK TFV8 Baby V2 in Five Minutes” to view it.
The R-Kiss kit may not look especially stunning at first glance, but its clean and lively appearance still leaves a deep impression. In particular, its compact size and excellent ergonomics make it one of the better performers among dual-battery mods. Its maximum output of 200W is no less capable than that of larger devices, and in terms of portability alone, the R-Kiss is clearly superior to bulkier mods. It can truly be said that the R-Kiss is a blessing for users who prefer simplicity and portability. #p#Page Title#e#
