Shenray Edge Mechanical Mod Review
Recently I found a little free time to browse online for new gear and came across Shenray. Many people may know the brand, though few users probably own its products. I once bought one of their Feilian RDTA—large in size, well made, and with good flavor.

I stumbled upon Shenray, a brand that should be familiar to many, but there are probably few players who own their products. I once purchased a Feilian RDTA, which was large, well-made, and had a decent flavor. Later, they released the Sol RDTA, which caught players' attention with its exaggerated size.
When I saw their Edge mod, I was immediately attracted to it; perhaps this is what they call a good first impression! However, today's Edge mod has abandoned Shenray's traditional large style. Let's take a closer look at it.
1. Packaging
The packaging uses a pull-out box made of plastic, with shock-absorbing foam inside and shrink-wrapped on the outside. I really like this packaging; it's simple, lightweight, and protects the mod. There are no extravagant designs or excessive materials because, after all, the product experience is what matters most. As for the packaging, I believe that being simple and sturdy is sufficient. The box is printed with the product name, warning symbols, anti-counterfeiting codes, and a serial number. However, I'm not sure what this number means; I feel that if it were the mod's serial number, it would be better to have it engraved on the mod itself and shorter.
2. Appearance
The Edge mod is made entirely of stainless steel and comes in two colors: natural stainless steel and electroplated black. However, the electroplating process has a common issue of discoloration. As seen in the picture, the black has already lost some color in the pattern. The mod's body is covered with horizontally spaced stripes, which not only removes monotony but also makes the mod look more robust.
The body diameter is 22mm, which is not the mainstream 24mm, and it is compatible with 18650 batteries.
3. Design and Craftsmanship
The mod uses a Rog structure, which is one of the most common and stable structures currently. The electrode is made of copper. It's worth mentioning that the button's spring is not an ordinary Rog universal spring but a high-strength stainless steel compression spring, which I found to have a moderate feel and effectively prevents accidental touches. During use, I did not experience any misfires. The button's thread is relatively long, effectively preventing it from loosening when unscrewed.
Shenray has always followed a German style. What is the German style? You can refer to the Kayfun series for specifics. Therefore, Shenray's craftsmanship and materials are commendable.
The threads on the top and bottom of the mod are smooth, and the materials are thick. Although it's 22mm, it still feels substantial in hand. The button is made of brass, with Shenray's logo printed on the bottom. The overall button appears to be made using a cutting process, enhancing its overall texture and aesthetics. The button's material is also thick, with sharp chamfer lines. The exterior of the mod is polished for comfort, feels great in hand, and the interior is smooth without any black dirt.
4. Compatibility and Performance
The mod looks great when paired with a 22mm atomizer and has strong compatibility. However, pairing it with a 24mm atomizer looks a bit awkward, so specific atomizers need to be chosen. The pairing with the Maze V2 feels quite good. Compared to 24mm mods, it appears small.
Due to the high internal resistance of stainless steel, the performance will definitely be affected. The first ignition has a slight delay, but it improves significantly once heated, haha. However, for a simple wire, it ignites instantly. The stainless steel material itself has a mild flavor, and when paired with a simple wire, the e-liquid's resolution is still quite good.
5. Conclusion
Pros: Excellent craftsmanship; good aesthetics; compact size, easy to carry.
Cons: I suggest using a variety of materials to meet different user needs, such as H75 brass, T2 copper, white copper, 7075 aviation aluminum, etc.
In terms of size, I recommend increasing to 24mm, as 24mm is currently the mainstream size for mechanical mods in the domestic market. So, do you like this Shenray Edge mod?
