As various manufacturers are putting in great effort to design and release pod devices, competing for the pod market, the domestic e-cigarette brand "Smok" has not given up on the development of traditional devices. Instead, it continues to incorporate new elements during the R&D process, ensuring that its product technology tree remains flourishing. E-cigarettes, as a fashionable item for today's youth, naturally cannot be separated from such operations, leading to a continuous emergence of touch-operated models in the market. Regardless of the convenience brought by touch operation, this interactive method significantly enhances the product's appeal. The "Species Kit V2" is one of the new developments in this technology tree, successfully entering the European and American markets with its new appearance and touch control method.

The packaging and accessories remain practical, with the biggest highlight being the aesthetic appeal of the device. Although the device feels slightly thick, the overall grip remains very comfortable, and I personally really like the centered design of the atomizer. Unlike previous traditional products, power adjustment requires the use of physical buttons for “+” and “-”, while the Species Kit adopts a single physical button similar to that of Apple’s mobile devices. Its existence is meaningful, and I will explain its specific function later. SMOK Species Kit Review The Species Kit features an all-metal body covered with colorful piano paint, which is very bright and eye-catching, but it also carries a certain risk of chipping. The left side of the body has a large fire button design, and after the traditional five clicks to turn on, there will be a warning interface indicating that you must be at least 21 years old to use the device. This may be to comply with some requirements and standards in Europe and America, directly selecting “I am over 21 years old” as an option.

Skipping the warning interface, you directly enter the usage interface. The box adopts a dual battery design, supporting a maximum output of 230w, so there are no worries about performance; it is completely sufficient. Because apart from the fire button, the entire device only has one physical button, power adjustment is achieved through touch. The touch area divides the screen into two halves, allowing you to adjust by touching each half of the screen, making it very convenient. The function of the front physical button is actually a lock/unlock button; pressing it once locks the screen, preventing it from lighting up during firing, which helps save battery. A long press can unlock the touch adjustment, and its functionality is quite similar to that of an Apple phone. SMOK Species Kit Review The small icon in the upper left corner of the touch screen allows you to enter the settings interface. The operating interface adopts a four-grid design, which is very simple and easy to set up, with options that are not flashy or impractical. Unfortunately, there is no language setting, and the interface is in English, perhaps indicating that this device is primarily aimed at the European and American markets. Now, let’s talk about the atomizer in the Species Kit—the TFV8 Baby V2 Tank. This atomizer has appeared in many previous kits, maintaining the family-style top-fill design, but with some adjustments to the appearance details, such as the imported airflow style and drip tip style. The detail work remains consistently excellent. SMOK Species Kit Review What are the differences between the new TFV8 Baby V2 atomizer and the TFV12 Baby Prince atomizer?

First, you can see that the drip tip has been redesigned; it no longer inserts into the inner hole of the top cap but is instead wrapped around the protruding drip tip seat on the top cap, which is a first in the TFV family. Since the inner diameter is not too different, the new drip tip will not have a significant difference in flavor, still leaning towards large vapor production. However, due to the protruding metal head's inner edge size being 510 standard, some standard 510-sized drip tips can also be inserted for use, changing the previous situation where only 810 drip tips could be used with the TFV series atomizers. However, practical tests show that bottom-heavy metal drip tips, like the chess piece drip tip, cannot be inserted directly, while most shorter Teflon 510 drip tips can be directly inserted into the metal seat for use as flavor-oriented drip tips.

Additionally, the atomizer core that debuted with the atomizer has also introduced a brand new mesh core structure. From the printing on the side of the atomizer core, it can be seen that they are the A1 and A2 atomizer cores, with the former being a large single-hole mesh core and the latter being a dual-coil steel mesh core. However, from the structure and shape, they are basically a new version of the TFV12 Prince's Max Mesh and Dual Mesh atomizer cores, indicating that the TFV8 Baby series is fully cloning and extending the TFV12 Baby Prince atomizer, with increasing similarity between the two.

Both cores have relatively low resistances of 0.17Ω and 0.2Ω, and their specifications are designed to fit the atomizer standards, with consistent lengths, thread diameters, and bottom airflow. However, the dual-coil core is slightly thicker in outer diameter, indicating that the era of uniform appearance and size for all cores in a series has passed, and SMOK has introduced a completely different new solution this time.

From the internal structure, the A1 large single-hole atomizer core uses a single large-diameter mesh core, with a very dense mesh. Compared to the previous threaded coil structure, it provides a larger contact area and larger airflow diameter, which means stronger bursts and larger vapor production. SMOK Species Kit Review The other A2 atomizer core uses a dual-coil mesh core, with a relatively larger mesh spacing, presenting a large hexagonal shape, providing lower resistance, larger contact area, and a split heating system, which can deliver a more layered flavor and larger vapor experience.

The biggest highlight of the Species Kit atomizer is the two atomizer cores included. The single-coil atomizer core uses the currently popular mesh heating core, which increases the vaporization area, enhancing both flavor and vapor production. The dual-coil atomizer core is the first to use a honeycomb-style mesh heating core, which allows for a richer and smoother flavor while maintaining the same vapor production during actual use.

Regarding the actual user experience of the Species Kit, there is really no need for me to overly praise it. Relying on brand strength, Smok's products perform well in actual use. Although the official has not provided data on firing time, the performance of immediate firing indicates that the product's performance is above average among similar products, and even at full power output, it does not feel weak or sluggish, fully meeting various daily needs. Therefore, I believe that excessive discussion of data is meaningless; only devices that are truly suitable for oneself and easy to use are qualified products. If its price is also relatively affordable, Smok's Species Kit will surely have many fans.
