Five Suspects Criminally Detained for Producing Counterfeit Vaping Products
According to Yangcheng Evening News, reporters Song Wangqun and correspondent Tang Xiaohui reported: Recently, the Baoan police in Shenzhen seized a batch of counterfeit vaping products and arrested five suspects.
At around 10 a.m. on May 20, police from the Baoan Baomin Police Station inspected an industrial area in Songgang Street and discovered over twenty boxes of counterfeit electronic cigarettes bearing the brand names "Protank," "Aerotank," and "Kangertech," with each box containing 144 finished products.
The suspects confessed that they began producing counterfeit electronic cigarettes with registered trademarks in August 2014. Originally, the factory only had one production workshop located on the second floor of a rented building in the industrial area, mainly producing parts for electronic cigarettes. Due to a business partner, a manufacturer assembling electronic cigarette products, defaulting on over 500,000 yuan owed to the factory, they decided to relocate the assembly manufacturer to the fourth floor of the same rented building to mitigate risks. Later, as the legal representative of the assembly manufacturer went missing, only the production equipment was left behind. To recover losses, the factory's management began to take over the assembly workshop, continuing operations as per the original assembly manufacturer, with clients primarily being the original manufacturer's customers.
The factory can assemble four to five hundred finished electronic cigarettes daily, with packaging boxes sourced externally. A portion of the finished products is sent to custom clients, while the remaining is sold in the market or online. Currently, the five suspects have been criminally detained by the Baoan police in accordance with the law.
