HUOQI ECS Vape Review — A Pod System Closest to the Feel of a Traditional Cigarette

 　　During the exhibition, we saw a total of 129 types of pod systems, which was quite overwhelming. Halls 6, 7, 8, and 9 were filled with these devices. It truly feels like a big year for pod systems. We basically explored and tried all the products, and the one that left the deepest impression was the Huoqi pod system. As we all know, IQOS has been in the Chinese market for a year now and is extremely popular, with a massive consumption of tobacco sticks. However, it is fundamentally not an electronic cigarette; it burns tobacco and produces solid particulate matter, which is not necessarily less harmful to the body than traditional cigarettes, nor is it better than electronic cigarettes.

  　　Today, we present the Huoqi pod device, which is very close to the taste of real cigarettes.   　　For a product to mimic the flavor of real cigarettes, it must achieve several points: first, it needs to have a tar-like taste; second, the draw resistance must closely resemble that of real cigarettes; third, the flavor must be very similar to that of real cigarettes, with an appropriate throat hit. This product (referring to Huoqi ECS) has achieved all of these.   　　Another aspect is the shape of the smoking experience. We have been smoking traditional cigarettes for a long time, and a realistic cigarette must have the taste of the cigarette butt, which this product also provides.   　　Let’s briefly introduce that it comes in three colors: navy blue, red, and white. The pods also come in three flavors: peach, mint, and iced kumquat. All three products have an icy sensation.   　　The packaging is quite upscale. Take a look at the pod packaging; it resembles traditional cigarette packaging and is somewhat similar to the IQOS pod box.   　　In fact, it is an electronic cigarette that burns e-liquid.   　　Upon opening the package, there is one pod filled with e-liquid containing 20mg of nicotine, and there are four cigarette butts, each containing four burst beads. (When the beads are crushed) After bursting the beads, the aromatic factors can be inhaled through the mouthpiece.   　　Opening the Huoqi packaging, I personally feel that the Huoqi logo is quite ordinary; it would look better if the ECS was placed on the electronic cigarette. The product's color, font, and the English label for the electronic cigarette in the upper right corner, along with the side markings indicating it is enjoyable without harm and precautions for unsuitable groups. The bottom features a quote from Wu Jing endorsing the product, and the back shows the structure of the electronic cigarette, including the mouthpiece, sleeve, atomizer, electronic rod, barcode, production date, and color classification.   　　Tearing off the protective film was a bit difficult; I suggest the manufacturer add a clasp on both sides for easier removal.   　　It comes with a very user-friendly case, which is nice for storing the mechanical rod and pods.   　　Next, we have the certificate of conformity, instruction manual, a box of complimentary pods, and a charging cable.   　　Let’s take a look at their charging cable; this type of charger does not have a universal connector. The only drawback of the entire product seems to be this charging cable, which is a bit cumbersome. You have to open the battery rod and screw it in; it’s an older structure that previous generations of electronic cigarettes used.   　　Currently, I have three colors in hand: navy blue, white, and red. My first impression is that I prefer the white one; it looks nicer, but the white color has a small issue. After prolonged use, the edges can become slightly yellowed, which is not very dirt-resistant, but the surface finish is quite good.   　　We can now see a common pod system on the market (taking out a pod for comparison); overall, the ECS is still relatively large.   　　It consists of several structures: one is the pod, the sleeve (which holds the liquid), and the top mouthpiece, which is quite okay. Personally, I feel the internal hole could be smaller. The craftsmanship is excellent. The battery rod is also quite good (with the pod attached), and the pod has been specially treated to prevent oil leakage.   　　Fill the e-liquid into the battery rod, and that’s it; the vapor comes out from there. The capacity of this pod is 1.5ml, which is relatively large. Generally, this type of pod can provide about 200 to 300 puffs. However, with Huoqi, you can only get about 100 puffs. Why? Because its resistance is only 1 ohm, which is relatively low. For pod systems, it’s best to have a resistance of around 1.5 ohms or 2 ohms, which would significantly reduce consumption. Secondly, with a lower resistance, the vapor production will be high, but it will also consume more battery.   　　There are claims online that the nicotine intake from 5 puffs is roughly equivalent to that of one traditional cigarette. The nicotine content is relatively high. Why does the pod have a capacity of 1.5ml? Because this pod indeed contains liquid, and with a lower resistance, it cannot hold more e-liquid. There is a breathing light at the bottom; it lights up when you inhale, which is a very simple structure. You can just put it on and start inhaling (trying a puff), and it really resembles traditional cigarettes; the flavor is very close to that of real cigarettes. "The non-smelly IQOS" means that the unpleasant odor of IQOS is gone, and the other flavors are very similar. Therefore, you can vape without adding a pod, but this will lead to a small issue: the overall sensation of the device is still quite strong. Adding the mouthpiece restores the experience very accurately, but it also raises the issue of mouthfeel and draw resistance, which can feel a bit airy.   　　I went back to study why this pod has such an airy draw without adding resistance. Because once the pod is added, it further compresses the draw resistance. If the original draw resistance is low, the vapor will enter through the edges of the paper, allowing more air to be inhaled. After adding the mouthpiece, the throat hit is not strong, and the flavor becomes lighter. Therefore, without the mouthpiece, the draw resistance must be increased to produce more vapor. This is the reason for its 1.0 ohm resistance. Adding the mouthpiece makes it just right, and the vapor volume is also just right.   　　This product is revolutionary. Recently, there have been many new e-liquids emerging, with new varieties appearing every day. It was unexpected to integrate something new into the existing e-liquid base for pod systems. High-mg e-liquids do not truly replicate the flavor of traditional tobacco, and the flavors are often too fragrant, lacking the unpleasant odor of cigarettes, which leads to rejection. However, with something like this (holding the Huoqi ECS), I believe many traditional smokers might use it as a substitute, as the taste is nearly indistinguishable. Therefore, I genuinely believe this product will become popular.

For our suggestions, it would be ideal to have a higher resistance, such as 2 ohms, while still maintaining the current flavor after adding a mouthpiece. Secondly, the outer coating could be made to "shrink" overall or slightly reduce the size, while increasing the battery capacity. Overall, this would lead to longer usage time. Currently, with this version, one pod can be charged once without any issues, and there is still some battery left. However, for one pod, I have to charge it over ten times, which is a bit cumbersome. Charging once to use three pods seems more reasonable to me.   　　So today’s review of the Huoqi ends here.
