Augvape VTEC 200W box mod review

The Augvape VTEC 200W box mod has recently become quite popular. At the same time, many newly released devices feature increasingly creative designs, moving away from conventional shapes. Examples include microphone-style mods, the SMOK MAG, and the AT-7.

The Augvape VTEC 200W box mod has recently gained popularity, but the new devices lack the imaginative designs of the past, no longer resembling traditional shapes like microphone mods, SMOK MAG mods, AT-7 mods, etc. The recent VTEC 200W mod from Augvape has a unique design that might leave you puzzled: it looks quite distinctive, very 6+7, and you might wonder what it resembles...
To be honest, if I hadn't seen online introductions, I wouldn't know how to define its shape. The design of the VTEC 200W is inspired by Honda's Type R B18C-R engine (Type R stands for Type Racing, a supercar in Honda's lineup, and B18C-R is the red-headed engine of the Honda Type R). Car enthusiasts might feel a sense of familiarity, while I, as a car novice, might be confused. To clarify, I downloaded a comparison image online and noticed many similarities, including some details, with only creative enhancements in certain areas.
The packaging of the VTEC 200W follows traditional formats. The design is quite elaborate, showcasing the manufacturer's attention to detail through the style and color of the packaging. Through the transparent PVC panels on both sides, we can get a glimpse of the VTEC 200W's flair.
The dimensions of the VTEC 200W are 87.5*45*29.2MM. As a dual-battery mod, it has compressed its internal structure to the extreme, so it doesn't feel bulky in hand. The weight of 255 grams with two 18650 batteries is comparable to other dual-battery mods, which can feel a bit heavy. Although it appears slightly slim and long, it does not detract from its aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the craftsmanship is quite refined, with no noticeable flaws.
The VTEC 200W is constructed from two zinc alloy panels, making the seams quite visible. Some players might mistakenly think it feels rough, but this is not the case. Due to the structural design, you may need to adjust your grip method. The grip method shown in the image feels quite good, being comfortable and avoiding any discomfort from the seams.
Augvape VTEC 200W box mod review “Since the grip method has changed, how do we fire it?” “Yes, we can't use the other hand to fire it, right?” This is a good question, and the designer has a good answer: “Press it down, press it boldly.” Indeed, to accommodate the grip method, the fire button is conveniently located where the thumb presses, also serving as the power indicator (when the battery is installed, there will be an LED light feedback). This cleverly hidden design showcases the designer's ingenuity, although the button could be slightly lower for easier access, especially for players who prefer to support the mod with their pinky finger.
Not only is the fire button well-designed, but the +/- buttons also have a unique style. The +/- indicators on the screen protector on the middle panel make it easy for players to locate the +/- buttons. This wheel-style dial serves as the +/- buttons, designed to maintain consistency with the B18C-R. The specific usage is: pushing up functions as the + button, while pushing down functions as the - button. A reminder: do not use it as a fire button. Initially, it may feel a bit awkward, but once familiar, you will find it much more convenient and quicker than traditional buttons.
The USB charging port is located at the bottom of the panel. It is used for firmware upgrades and can also charge the mod, supporting balanced charging, taking about 5 hours to complete. It also supports the ability to vape while charging. The back design mirrors the front, with the black panel serving only decorative purposes.
The 510 connector at the top of the VTEC 200W is also distinctive. The larger, slightly raised area protects the mod's paint from wear caused by the atomizer, and the anti-skid texture features the latest TYPE-R wheel pattern.
Compared to the fire button and +/- button designs, the battery cover of the VTEC 200W is relatively traditional, using a sliding cover method. The internal structure clearly indicates the positive and negative terminals, and all metal contacts are gold-plated. Once the battery cover is closed, it fits tightly and securely with the mod.
In addition to its striking design, the VTEC 200W is equipped with a powerful chip, with official claims that:
1. #p#分页标题#e#Supports a minimum resistance of 0.05. 2. Resistance detection accuracy can reach plus or minus 0.005 ohms. 3. The ignition speed in VTEC mode is reduced to 0.005 seconds. 4. Power conversion efficiency has improved to 95% (on par with DNA200). 5. The mainboard features dual inductors, allowing for full power output from 5-200 watts without delay. 6. Bypass mode can output 8.4 volts in series when fully charged, with protections, etc.
Additionally, the manufacturer has simplified the chip's operation to the maximum extent, eliminating temperature control mode and retaining only the commonly used NORMAL (standard mode), BP (bypass mode), and adding V MODE, removing the secondary menu for easier and more straightforward switching and settings. It can be said that it is user-friendly right out of the box. The methods for setting are roughly as follows: Power off: quickly press the fire button 5 times (the device will automatically power on when the battery is installed, no operation needed); Function switch: quickly press the fire button 3 times, then turn the dial to switch; Confirm: quickly press the fire button once. It also supports screen lock and display brightness adjustment. The methods are: 1. Lock screen: in NORMAL mode, push the dial up while pressing the fire button, and repeat the same action to unlock. 2. Adjust screen brightness: push the dial down while pressing the fire button to dim the display, and repeat the same action to brighten it. I want to express that simplicity and ease of use are the greatest sincerity towards players.
Regarding the newly added V MODE, this is my first encounter. From my experience, it seems like an enhanced version of the power output mode, as it performs more aggressively than NORMAL mode under the same settings, with a quicker response time for the heating wire.
In summary, this mod, inspired by the Type R red-headed engine, not only has an alluring design but also boasts a powerful chip that simplifies operation, requiring no complicated settings to use right away. Coupled with robust output performance and good cost-effectiveness, its market competitiveness is quite strong, which explains its favorable reception at the launch event. Personally, I feel that the only drawback is that the device appears slightly elongated; if the width were increased just a bit, I believe its aesthetic appeal would be even more outstanding.
