Is the Ploom Tech vape good? Ploom Tech review

Previously popular IQOS e-cigarettes had some who wanted to buy them, but after trying once, I found not only the taste while smoking was unpleasant, but even the secondhand smoke was hard to bear, so I never bought them. Later, during a conversation with a Japanese friend, I discovered she also disliked the taste of IQOS, so she recommended this product to me. IQOS is the e-cigarette from Marlboro, while Ploom Tech is from Japan's Mevius.

I borrowed my friend's device to try; her pod was the classic blueberry flavor from Mevius. I found that there was no tobacco taste at all, just the blueberry flavor of the pod itself, and those nearby wouldn't notice any smoke. Out of curiosity, I went to buy a set.

I bought it at a specialty store, where the salesperson provided detailed information and even let me try the flavors on the spot to decide which pod to choose. This made me feel more at ease, as if I bought a flavor I didn't like, I couldn't return it. Shopping at a specialty store is much more reassuring than at a convenience store.

The Ploom Tech e-cigarette box has been discarded, but its size is similar to a regular pack of cigarettes. A pack costs 460 yen, the same price as a regular pack of Mevius, containing five pods and one device. There are five flavors available; mine is apple mint, so the mouthpiece of the pod is orange. The device and pods are both consumables, and when you finish a pack, you can discard the device. Some might say that with only five pods, you can only smoke five times, but that's not true. Each pod can be used for about 50 puffs; the store staff said that about 10 puffs equals one regular cigarette. However, the characteristic of this new type of e-cigarette is that the amount you smoke is up to you. In other words, how much you consider one cigarette is also up to you. How do you know when a pod is finished? You can only rely on your judgment. I saw Japanese reviews saying that men usually feel the flavor fading after about 35-40 puffs, at which point you can decide to change the pod. But if you exceed 50 puffs or smoke when the pod is completely empty, you will notice a burnt cotton taste from the mouthpiece.

The Ploom Tech e-cigarette looks just like a regular pen. The upper part is red, which is the mouthpiece, and the bottom white part is actually a light. When you smoke, the light turns blue, and when the battery is low, it turns red, indicating that you should prepare to charge it. The middle white part has several small holes; when smoking, do not hold it there, as that is where the air enters!

The Ploom Tech e-cigarette comes with a plug and USB charger. You place the part with the light into the USB charger to charge it, and during charging, the "Ploom Tech" lettering on the USB plug will turn blue. Doesn't it look a bit like a router? Haha. Charging takes 90 minutes. A full charge lasts a long time, almost like a Kindle with its long standby time.

Comparison of Ploom Tech e-cigarette and IQOS

In terms of taste, IQOS has a flavor closer to real tobacco.

The taste is heavier than Ploom Tech.

However, Ploom Tech has zero tar content, and the nicotine content is only 0.1 mg.

IQOS has 0.5 mg. So Ploom Tech is healthier.

Moreover, IQOS corresponds to Marlboro cigarettes, while Ploom Tech corresponds to Mevius.

After finishing one IQOS cigarette, you need to recharge, while with Ploom Tech, you only need to recharge after finishing a pack.

User experience: There is no tobacco taste; you need to inhale harder than usual to see the vapor you exhale, but it's not much. If you take small puffs, there may be no vapor at all, so sometimes you really don't know if you have smoked. However, the feeling after inhaling nicotine is there, which is quite amazing. But it doesn't affect others, and there is no lingering smell on the body, which I think is quite good.
