ASVAPE ZETA Atomizer Review
The mouth-to-lung trend has driven the release of one MTL RTA after another, and this category has effectively been given a new name by the times: MTL. As different brands gradually bring their MTL products to market, each one reflects a different design
With the rise of mouth-to-lung (MTL) products, a new wave of MTL RTAs has emerged, each offering a unique philosophy and experience. Even among MTL RTAs, there are variations that cater to different preferences, including designs that allow for a more compatible mouth-to-lung experience...
ASVAPE is known for its unique and avant-garde products, and the retro ZETA RTA launched amidst the MTL trend aims to maintain the brand's trendy characteristics. Today, we will start with the black plastic box of the ZETA RTA shown above...
The manufacturer has included a variety of accessories such as multiple O-rings, a precision screwdriver, two ceramic components, two pre-made coils, and a replacement air intake screw. The first impression of the ZETA RTA is its retro design, with the logo and overall shape reflecting a blend of old and new styles.
The ZETA RTA features a classic 22MM diameter and a 2.5ML e-liquid capacity. Upon opening the package, three notable features stand out: 1. The airflow ring can provide a tight draw when fully closed, suitable for high nicotine salt e-liquids; 2. The difference between the two airflow screws is quite pronounced; for mouth-to-lung use, it is recommended to choose the smaller airflow screw; 3. The pre-made coils are loosely wound and have unclear material specifications.
Compared to older RTAs, top-fill designs are a hallmark of modern devices. The ZETA's mouthpiece has a very small diameter, making it perfect for mouth-to-lung use. If you wish to switch to a larger airflow screw for direct lung hits, using a suitable 510 drip tip would be more appropriate.
Disassembling the tank requires a tool (like a coin), but regular maintenance can be done with just water. The tank, made of PEI and stainless steel, not only has a retro appearance but is also more durable than standard glass tanks, making it less prone to "tank explosions" from drops.
The ceramic chamber is a core highlight of the ZETA, providing insulation and a compressed vaping space that enhances flavor. The vertical coil rebuild is straightforward; just trim the leads to the appropriate length, using the original coil leads as a reference. Before installing the coil, the ceramic gasket from the accessory pack must be installed, as it serves as both the base of the ceramic chamber and an insulator for the coil.
The original coil's 3.0mm cotton leads need to be thinned out to perfectly fill the juice holes, and the loose coil experience is not suitable for small airflow modes. The original coil generates more heat than typical mouth-to-lung setups, such as 25MG menthol tobacco salt e-liquids, where the menthol flavor can overpower everything else; it is recommended to use the larger airflow screw for direct lung hits.
The ceramic gasket must be aligned in one direction; if the lead holes are misaligned, adjustments are necessary. For pure mouth-to-lung use on the ZETA RTA, smaller gauge wires like 28G/30G will better suit its small airflow characteristics, especially in the narrow vapor space of the atomizer, as thicker wires can lead to excessive heat affecting the e-liquid flavor (in small airflow modes).
The ZETA RTA offers a highly recognizable flavor profile, largely due to the compressed feel of the narrow ceramic chamber, which retains heat, resulting in slightly warm vapor. Its compatibility with both mouth-to-lung and direct lung styles makes it suitable for traditional 6MG e-liquids and currently popular high-nicotine salt e-liquids.
During the boom of high-nicotine salt e-liquids, many have turned to the KFLP for mouth-to-lung use, and the economic advantages of rebuildable RTAs compared to disposable pod systems are clear. Looking at the overall performance of the ASVAPE ZETA RTA, it shows strong compatibility with high-nicotine e-liquids (both traditional and salt), and aside from needing some familiarity with coil leads, it has no significant drawbacks, making it a reliable choice for smoking alternatives...
