Influenced by IQOS, many domestic manufacturers that originally exported heated tobacco devices to Japan, South Korea, and Europe and the United States have recently turned their focus to the domestic market. In the past year or two, in addition to vaping devices, heated tobacco has also become very popular.
Heated tobacco has quickly won over many smokers due to its convenience, safety, and authentic taste. From IQOS to LIL, foreign brands hold a significant market share in this field. Recently, I tried a device called the Fire Device GS5.0, which is a heated tobacco device that I found to be quite good and personally feel it is not inferior to IQOS.
It is understood that manufacturers that previously developed and produced electronic cigarettes have also joined the "heated tobacco" segment. On the other hand, due to the country's control over tobacco, domestic heated tobacco devices have struggled to gain popularity. Consumers bringing in IQOS from abroad or purchasing through other channels face significant challenges regarding warranty and support.
In fact, domestic electronic devices are not inferior to those from other countries, as exemplified by today's recommended first smart touch heated tobacco device.
The heated tobacco device I am reviewing today comes from Shenzhen AIVBADI Technology Co., Ltd., one of their series called AVBAD-TT. This company is an innovative enterprise specializing in the research, development, production, and sales of heated tobacco products.
They have a professional factory, R&D center, and sales center, with most products exported to Japan, South Korea, Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia.
Upon opening the package, in addition to the black device, there is a charging cable, a certificate of compliance, a cleaning stick, spare sealing rings, and two manuals in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean.
The AVBAD-TT features a slim, streamlined design that is very ergonomic, with rounded corners that feel very comfortable in hand.
Most people say the AVBAD-TT looks like a leaf. When I saw its shape, it reminded me of a spinning knife from an animated series I once watched, although I can't recall the name of the show. I just want to ask the designer what inspired the design.
The overall body is made of PC baking paint with a matte finish, and the snap-fit design has no visible screws, weighing only 68 grams, making it extremely lightweight.
It can be simply divided into two parts: the tobacco stick chamber and the body. The ceramic needle heating element is about as thick as a cotton swab, providing a 360-degree heating area for more even heating. It features a one-button operation for high-temperature cleaning in 20 seconds, allowing the heating needle to burn off any residue and tar, which can also be wiped with a regular cotton swab.
The detailed operation of the AVBAD-TT will not be elaborated here, as there is a detailed manual provided.
Its selling point is that it has abandoned traditional buttons in favor of smart touch technology, which is highly sensitive and precise, making the body feel as smooth as a baby's skin.
It has a built-in 1200 mAh battery that can be fully charged in one hour, allowing for approximately 17 tobacco sticks on a full charge. Each stick lasts about 4 minutes or around 16 puffs, which generally meets a day's consumption.
Unlike IQOS, which requires you to return the stick to the charging case after use, the AVBAD-TT allows you to continuously use the next stick.
The insertion method for the flat tobacco sticks must be done carefully; do not twist them, or the heating element may break. However, the needle design of the TT greatly improves this situation. After finishing a tobacco stick, you can directly pull out the tobacco stick chamber along with the stick, leaving almost no residue in the heating needle.
The AVBAD-TT features memory settings for levels 1/2/3, so even after turning off and on, it will remember the last set level, reducing the need for frequent adjustments. The different heating levels provide varying experiences for users, allowing them to choose different brands of tobacco sticks to experience.
【Summary and Comments】
Those familiar with IQOS should know that a flashing red light is a significant hassle. This is often due to a small amount of e-liquid entering the device due to heating. Therefore, regular cleaning and maintenance are necessary to extend the device's lifespan.
Since IQOS and LIL can only be purchased from abroad without after-sales service, once they break, repairs become a significant issue. This is very troublesome.
The AVBAD-TT is different. Its tobacco stick chamber design makes it difficult for any heated e-liquid to seep into the main device. After using about a pack of tobacco sticks (20 pieces), you can see that the heating needle has accumulated carbon and turned black. At this point, you can use the device's automatic cleaning function. During automatic cleaning, you can see a noticeable change in the heating needle as the accumulated carbon gradually fades away, which is quite magical.
After that, simply use a cotton swab to clean the bottom of the tobacco stick chamber, and you're done.
The second feature is its three heating levels. During several days of use, I only used levels one and two. At level one, the experience is quite similar to using Kose and Mox. At level two, the vapor volume is noticeably larger than other devices, and the throat hit from the tobacco stick is stronger, with a richer flavor.
It is very intense, suitable for seasoned smokers. I only have the Russian version of HEETS and the Korean version provided by Zuma Vape, and after testing, I found that level one felt quite good.
Just to mention, the Fire Device GS5.0 can also use all IQOS tobacco sticks, with the same automatic cleaning function and adjustable temperature feature.
【Final Thoughts】
Whether due to accidents or human error, any electronic device will have its day of failure. The industry's ability to grow and strengthen depends on after-sales service, as good after-sales can capture consumers and occupy the market. I hope that the new generation of heated tobacco devices in our country can ignite a new market.
