Which disposable e-cigarette brand is best? In 2018, small e-cigarettes quickly became popular, and nicotine salt e-liquids (pods) became standard configurations for various small e-cigarette products. I remember my first encounter with a small e-cigarette was when I accidentally walked past a RELX store and, out of curiosity, went in to try it.
Due to my lack of knowledge about small e-cigarettes, I didn't even know how to use it. When the staff handed me the device to try, I took my first puff using a lung inhale method, which resulted in an incredibly intense throat hit that nearly knocked me out. (Warning: Nicotine salt products should never be inhaled into the lungs.)
Strangely enough, it was this throat hit from nicotine salt that piqued my interest in small e-cigarette products. After the staff guided me to use a mouth-to-lung method, the throat hit was significantly reduced, but it was still stronger than traditional cigarettes. With the throat hit, there was a possibility of satisfying cravings, preventing me from vaping everywhere at any time.
I subsequently purchased several small e-cigarette products and would like to share some insights with fellow vapers.
Here are the small e-cigarettes currently in use (from left to right: RELX, ZQ-2 (Aixiu), Light Breeze 2, and Slant Tower)
In terms of appearance, RELX and ZQ-2 are similar to most long, rectangular small e-cigarettes, essentially falling into the category of homogenized products. The main device shapes are almost identical (some even allow for interchangeable pods), with only slight differences in branding, parts, or pod sizes. Since they are homogenized products, they all use constant pressure technology and airflow-sensitive switches, resulting in little difference in experience and similar draw resistance. For vapers looking to purchase such small e-cigarettes, choosing a well-known brand is sufficient; don't be misled by overly enthusiastic reviews of specific products.
However, the ZQ-2 from Yijiate, while also a long rectangular shape, features distinct angular lines that remind one of fashionable digital products rather than just a small e-cigarette. Its 450mAh battery offers more endurance compared to the common 360mAh batteries found in other small e-cigarettes. Unlike other homogenized small e-cigarettes, this one does not follow the trend of using airflow-sensitive switches but opts for a more traditional mechanical button switch, which feels familiar and practical for vapers accustomed to button-operated devices. Although using a button switch in small e-cigarettes may seem outdated, I personally find it more responsive than airflow switches, with no delay and a more powerful burst. In actual use, the flavor and aroma of the e-liquid are superior. This point may be subjective, but I personally agree with it.
The Slant Tower and Light Breeze are both Yijiate products. These two models do not use disposable e-cigarette pods but rather simple atomizers with replaceable coils that can be refilled, (some refer to them as refillable pods, but I define them as simple atomizers because they possess almost all the attributes of traditional finished atomizers). Notably, it is rare for small e-cigarette products to introduce adjustable airflow rings, and Yijiate can be considered a pioneer in this regard. The benefit of adjustable airflow means customizable draw resistance, allowing users to tailor their experience. Visually, both the Slant Tower and Light Breeze 2 are completely different from homogenized products, appearing more stylish. However, these two products have some drawbacks; due to the larger surface area of the atomizers, they are more prone to condensation due to temperature differences during heating. Since these two products were provided for free by Yijiate, I find them acceptable.
Based on my experiences with the above small e-cigarette products, my conclusion is that while each has its merits, overall, Yijiate's three small e-cigarette products excel in design philosophy, craftsmanship, performance, and actual experience compared to the first two (RELX and ZQ-2).
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that the Fire Device's disposable e-cigarette Xiao Latiao and the refillable pod e-cigarette Ammo are quite good; these are the two models I currently use regularly.
