What Should You Do If Your E-Cigarette Gets Wet? Remove the Pod Immediately

As vaping becomes more common, accidents can happen anywhere. If you accidentally drop your e-cigarette into water while using it, do not panic—there may still be a way to save it. First, if your device gets wet or falls into water, remove it immediately

As e-cigarettes become more and more popular, accidents can happen anywhere. If you accidentally drop your e-cigarette into water while using it, don’t panic—there may still be ways to bring your device back to life.

First, if your e-cigarette has been splashed or dropped into water, take it out immediately and try to minimize the amount of moisture inside the device. Liquid on the circuit board can conduct electricity, causing components to connect improperly and create a short circuit, which may directly burn out the entire board.

1. Separate the pod from the device first.

Of course, once your e-cigarette falls into water, the first thing to do is retrieve it right away. Immediately separate the pod from the device body. This prevents the electrodes from continuing to make contact.

2. Dry the device body.

After completing the first step, the next thing to do is remove as much water as possible from the device. If you have a hair dryer at home, you can use it to blow moisture out of the device, but note: you must use cool air—never use hot air. Hot air may damage the circuit board. If you do not have a hair dryer, you can try using tissues and shaking the device by hand to remove the water. After that, let the device sit for a few minutes. Once it is completely dry, move on to the next step.

3. Check whether the device still works.

After completing the above steps, the next step is to check whether the device has been damaged. Once you are sure it is completely dry, reattach the pod and observe the indicator light. Generally, the indicator light on many devices is white. If there is a problem after attaching the pod, it may show red. Then try taking a puff again. If the light stays white and the device works normally, then there is no issue. If the light turns red and the device will not produce vapor, then the circuit board inside may have short-circuited due to water exposure. If your device has truly been damaged by water and none of the above methods work, then it’s best to contact after-sales service.
