Has RELX Launched New Products with Nicotine Strengths from 1% to 6%? Here’s the Truth

Since yesterday, a picture of a suspected new product from RELX has been circulating wildly in various communities. The image shows that the packaging for three flavors—Kung Fu Tieguanyin, Ice Watermelon, and Elegant Smoke—clearly states the numbers 1 to 6. Upon closer inspection, it is easy to see that these numbers refer to nicotine content. In other words, this suspected new product from RELX offers six nicotine strengths for each flavor.

Regarding the authenticity of this suspected new product, we conducted an investigation. Relevant personnel from RELX's regional office stated that they have not received any formal notification about this product. Meanwhile, sources close to the upstream supply chain revealed that this is an internal test product.

In other words, regardless of its authenticity, this new product will not be available for sale at retail locations in the short term. From a consumer perspective, if this product does reach the production stage, it will likely only be a special treatment for a few flavors rather than a full-scale launch.

On one hand, the power of pod vapes is very limited, and the vapor production is small, making the actual significance of 1% nicotine quite limited in terms of satisfying cravings; on the other hand, this would also inflate the SKU count by six times, creating significant inventory pressure.

A more valuable significance may lie in providing an option for veteran smokers who wish to gradually reduce their nicotine intake through e-cigarettes, allowing them to lower their nicotine consumption from 6% to 1%, which may offer a better experience than reducing from 5% to 3%.
