Demon—the angel fallen to the human world, ruler of dark forces, manipulator and tempter of the human heart.
VOOPOO has introduced an RDA atomizer called DEMON. Like a demon, it lures you in and keeps you immersed, unable to pull yourself away.
The DEMON comes with a pair of Ni80 dual-core Clapton coils. The post screws use slotted heads, which are more durable than hex or Phillips screws. However, the slots are slightly narrow, so a flathead screwdriver may not seat perfectly on brand-new screws.
The DEMON cap is made from aluminum alloy and features anodized coloring in a wide range of finishes—eight, as far as I know. The inner wall is also anodized, taking advantage of the non-conductive properties of anodized aluminum to reduce the risk of short circuits caused by the coil touching the chamber wall. I also got to verify the durability of the anodized layer myself: before taking photos, I “accidentally” dropped the cap three times, and it still remained completely intact. There is also a positioning design inside the cap to prevent incorrect installation.
The DEMON also includes a positive pin screw. Replacing the standard screw with this one allows your DEMON to work with a bottom-feeding squonk mod, clearly pointing toward the next hot trend in VAPE. The PEI insulator at the bottom provides both heat resistance and scratch protection for the mod.
The DEMON uses a standard 810 drip tip, and there is an inner ring groove designed to effectively prevent condensation from entering the mouth. During testing, I did not encounter the awkward issue of e-liquid spitback or condensation reaching the mouth.
The DEMON uses a dual-post, four-terminal build deck designed for ease of use. The round terminal openings are about 2.4mm in diameter, enough to handle a variety of exotic coils. With the side-mounted screw design, when using flat wire you need to twist the coil legs about 90 degrees. The small hole in the center of the positive post serves as the feed channel after installing the bottom-feeding pin. During normal dripping use, a small amount of e-liquid may collect there, which can be solved by placing a bit of cotton inside. Both sides are chamfered, allowing e-liquid to flow more smoothly and evenly toward the coils—especially when used with bottom feeding—effectively acting as a juice distribution platform. The juice well on the deck is also deep enough to hold a decent amount of e-liquid.
The DEMON uses adjustable inserts to create four different airflow configurations. Aligning the coil with the lower airflow hole gives you side airflow or side airflow plus simulated top airflow; aligning it with the upper airflow hole gives side airflow plus simulated bottom airflow, or simulated bottom airflow alone. This greatly maximizes its versatility.
When it comes to flavor performance, the DEMON was a very pleasant surprise. The different airflow combinations each produce their own strengths. When I raised the coils higher, the vapor became impressively rich and intense, though some of the layering was slightly overshadowed by the density. Lowering the coils reduced the richness a bit but noticeably improved flavor separation and clarity. I’m quite picky about flavor, and its performance managed to satisfy all of my demands. It looks like my beloved 528, which I use all the time, may finally be ready for retirement.
Like the DRAG, this DEMON RDA atomizer from VOOPOO follows a practical, performance-oriented path. Overall, the experience is excellent. Its highly versatile structure and precise workmanship mean that even the sharp-looking metal inserts do not cut your hands, and the thick PEI heat-insulating layer keeps your lips from “suffering” even though the cap is made of aluminum alloy. If the post screws were refined a little further, it would be even closer to flawless.
Just as VAPE is often seen by “outsiders” as an evil demon, the DEMON gives off a darkly seductive charm that tempts you to try it. “I’m not afraid of going to hell—I’m only afraid that you won’t be there.”
