Love Big Clouds from Vaping? Here’s What You Need to Know
There’s another reason vaping devices have become so popular besides their role as a “cigarette alternative.”
That reason is—they’re more “fun” than cigarettes!
Even the most skilled and experienced smoker could never blow smoke rings like the ones above.
But vaping devices can!
To be frank, quite a few teenagers are drawn to vaping devices precisely for this sense of “trendiness.”
But any skill has a learning curve. Even smoking can make your throat choke on the first puff; and blowing smoke rings, even with vaping devices, is not that easy.
First, if you want to do a good job, you need the right tool—you need to choose the right vaping device.
Simply put, vaping devices can be divided into two types: big-cloud vape setups and small pod systems.
The kind used for tricks, especially for blowing large smoke rings, is the big-cloud vape. If you want to create fun, impressive rings, you need to choose a big-cloud vape setup.

Second, choose your e-liquid carefully. E-liquid is the most important factor affecting vapor density and thickness.
If you want more vapor, you need to choose e-liquid with a higher glycerin (vegetable glycerin) content.
Third, the atomizer. Put simply, the lower the atomizer resistance and the higher the voltage, the more vapor it produces.
However, this also speeds up the vaporization of the e-liquid. If the wick material in the vaping device can’t absorb e-liquid as quickly as it is being vaporized, the wick will burn out very quickly.
When you buy a standard vaping device, the original coil is usually balanced and configured by the manufacturer, so it generally won’t be a problem.
But just like building a computer, who doesn’t want to buy different parts and assemble a setup of their own?

If you build your own atomizer coil, you can theoretically achieve better results, but that requires relatively specialized knowledge.
The biggest prerequisite is that you need to understand a bit of physics. For example, this formula: power = voltage squared / resistance (P=U*U/R).
At present, the standard battery voltage for vaping devices in the industry is 3.7V, and when fully charged, it can reach around 4.2V.
Once you know this, you can determine the most suitable power range based on the coil resistance.
If the coil resistance is 0.2Ω, the appropriate power range is about 68–88W; if it is 0.9Ω, the appropriate power range is about 15–19.6W.
For coils with other resistance values, you can also calculate the power using the same formula above.
Finally, even if you have all the right gear, you still need the most important piece of knowledge: how to exhale!
You’ve probably heard of deep inhaling and shallow inhaling when smoking, right?
When using a big-cloud vape, you need to inhale deeply into the lungs. On the one hand, this gives you a larger volume of vapor to exhale; on the other hand, it allows you to shape your smoke rings more slowly.
As for shallow inhaling, it is generally used with smaller pod-based vaping devices. No matter how much people praise vaping devices, they still can’t match the real taste of cigarettes.
Many smokers use vaping devices as a way to smoke with slightly less harm. In that case, a shallow inhale—just passing it through the mouth—is enough, since inhaling into the lungs is also not good for the body.
