RELX 4th Gen flashes red as soon as you puff—is it broken? How do you fix it? RELX 4th Gen indicator light guide

What does a flashing light on a RELX vaping device mean? Why does the RELX 4th Gen flash red as soon as you inhale? In fact, this is the device's self-protection mechanism.

The reasons why the RELX 4th or 5th Gen flashes red when you puff are as follows:

1. Low battery:

In most cases, a flashing red light means your device needs to be charged. Just recharge it.

2. Puff protection:
If the external suction force is too strong, the device activates a protection mechanism to prevent the user from coughing or choking.

3. Overcurrent protection:
If you pull the charger out too forcefully after charging, or frequently plug and unplug it casually, the device indicator may flash three times. This is one of the RELX 4th Gen's self-protection features.
RELX has triple built-in safety protection. The 4th Gen device has an LED breathing light on the front. While charging, the center breathing light gradually brightens and dims. In short-circuit protection mode, the breathing light flashes three times. Under puff protection, the breathing light also flashes three times. Under low-voltage protection, the breathing light flashes ten times. Users can identify the situation based on the breathing light behavior.

1. Indicator light status while puffing:
Battery above 30%: the white light gradually brightens for 2 seconds, then stays on throughout the puff.
Battery below 30%: the red light gradually brightens for 2 seconds, then stays on throughout the puff.

2. Charging light status:

Charging: the breathing light gradually brightens and dims

Fully charged: the breathing light stays on, indicating a full charge

Unplugging the cable after full charge: white light flashes 3 times

Short circuit or overcurrent: red light flashes 3 times

3. Power consumption indicator status:

The red light flashes 10 times, cycling 10 times, and use is disabled (try not to drain the battery completely, as it will reduce battery life. Once the red light comes on at 30%, it is best to recharge directly).

▲Detailed note on short circuit or overcurrent: if the red light flashes while puffing even when fully charged, use a cotton swab to wipe away condensation from the contact points inside the device, and use a tissue to wipe condensation from the bottom of the pod. In many cases, the issue is caused by built-up condensation.

If the device still cannot be used after wiping away the condensation, try replacing the pod. If the new pod works normally, the old pod may have had damaged circuit components causing a short circuit, and you can apply for after-sales service. (I ran into this once myself in the past couple of days, but I haven't gone to the store to replace the pod yet.)

Note: Do not use fast charging, as it can damage the battery and affect its lifespan. Standard 5V/1A charging works well. Charging takes about 50 minutes, depending on the charger wattage and outlet voltage. When the device is fully charged, the light stays on continuously. Based on my own testing, a full charge usually lasts about 1.5 days, depending on how often you use it. Some people puff constantly, and for them it may only last half a day.
