In the Era of Pod Systems, Big Clouds Still Matter: Hands-On Test of the Tri-Proof SMOK MAG P3

Hello, it's time for my review segment again, and this time I bring you the SMOK MAG P3 device.

A large touchscreen, three-proof design—what do these two keywords make you think of? I believe the answer is obvious. However, today, we have an electronic cigarette device that possesses both features, and whether in craftsmanship or materials, it does not compromise. It is the star of our show today—the MAG P3. Earlier this year, the internationally renowned e-cigarette brand SMOK held a grand product launch in Los Angeles, unveiling three products: two pod systems and one large cloud kit. I believe everyone has experienced the charm of the RPM40 pod system, which, despite its small size, boasts a 1500mAh battery and adjustable vapor production, becoming a sensation in the domestic market.

Although the era of large clouds has lost its former excitement, SMOK's commitment to developing large cloud devices has not wavered; in fact, it has become more dedicated. The three-proof design is not something every company is willing to pursue due to its high production costs and precision manufacturing processes, which deter many manufacturers. The MAG P3 has an IP67 rating, which is nearly the limit of three-proof standards: 6 means completely dustproof, and 7 means it can withstand immersion in water for a short time. This means that the P3 can completely prevent water ingress at a depth of 1 meter, and this level is the highest in the world, typically used in diving equipment. One can imagine that on rainy days or if a cup of tea is accidentally knocked over during a meal, the MAG P3 can handle it with ease. Alright, after all this, let's unveil the charming features of the P3.

The classic SMOK white and black packaging includes one main device, a 9ML TFV16 tank atomizer, a 0.2-ohm single mesh coil, a 0.12-ohm dual mesh coil, a user manual, a data cable, and a card illustrating the correct use of the battery (thumbs up!). I chose a very eye-catching fluorescent green for the main device, which is also available in red and black. The grip of the device is genuinely comfortable, with a shape resembling a gunstock, ergonomically designed to fit perfectly in the hand. The carbon fiber sticker part adds a sense of weight. The front of the device features a 1.9-inch touchscreen that is quite impressive, and the overall design is genuinely appealing.

With a 9ml capacity, how could it not have a powerful coil? The single mesh coil is only slightly smaller than the 16's, while the dual mesh coil is truly tank-sized, even thicker than the 16. Imagine taking a puff with this coil; the thick vapor produced could easily obscure your vision.

The classic sliding unlock feature has also been incorporated here—high-end, atmospheric, and classy! I ask you, is there or is there not? The display layout and content on the screen are also quite rich. The four dots in the top left corner serve as a HOME button after unlocking, allowing access to the device's settings panel. The middle lock, and the right side shows the battery level. The large wattage display, puff time, and puff mode, along with the surrounding rings, give a feeling reminiscent of a car dashboard, ready to take off at the push of a button. Moreover, these two rings actually move around when you press the fire button, adding a sense of technology.

Clicking on the four dots mentioned earlier takes you to the settings interface, where you can freely set its working curve, including various wattage and temperature control options. Additionally, you can adjust the screen display color, with options for red, yellow, blue, purple, green, and white. Another particularly commendable feature is the safety lock setting, which allows for a four-digit password. This way, it protects curious kids and prevents friends from taking a puff without permission, greatly enhancing usability.

The atomizer uses top-fill design; you just need to press the switch at the top of the atomizer and push it back, and the fill hole becomes clearly visible. The fill hole is also quite large, accommodating various types of e-liquid bottles without hassle. After filling, simply screw the cap back on, making it very convenient and friendly for those who have never used an e-cigarette before. With two 18650 batteries, it delivers a maximum output of 230 watts, making the MAG P3 a true vapor production machine. However, I was surprised that such a large atomizer could provide a very delicate and smooth flavor experience. The Naked series e-liquids are also quite familiar to everyone, as they are products from another major brand. Today, I am vaping Very Berry. The moment I press the fire button, I can clearly feel the berry flavor filling my mouth, deep in my lungs, and as I exhale, the berry mixes with a hint of sweetness, stimulating my entire taste system. I never expected this giant atomizer to have a flavor clarity comparable to mouth-to-lung devices. I am genuinely moved that SMOK continues to uphold the path of large clouds in an era dominated by pod systems.

A good product can withstand the test of time, and I am truly grateful to SMOK. Pursuit is a mysterious thing, but persistence is the key to success. With ambition and perseverance, this is the demeanor of a major brand like SMOK. Of course, not all products can be flawless, such as the RPM40, which has issues with mouth-to-lung resistance, or this MAG P3, which, while providing a very solid hand feel due to its wide body, poses a headache for portability. Although the 9ML large capacity means you don't have to refill often, it also brings the issue of overnight e-liquid. These are all things we need to face rationally, but regardless, a device of such size that can deliver a surprising flavor experience is still commendable!
