Since the explosive growth of the domestic e-cigarette market in 2016, with a market scale increase of 344%, the term "seller's market" has characterized the Chinese e-cigarette market for a long time.

According to the China E-Cigarette Market Outlook Analysis Report, the industry output value was 5.69 billion yuan in 2013; 6.87 billion yuan in 2014, a year-on-year increase of 20.7%; 8.38 billion yuan in 2015, a year-on-year increase of 22%; 10.56 billion yuan in 2016, a year-on-year increase of 26%; and 12.65 billion yuan in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 19.8%.

The continuous growth in market value has attracted a large influx of businesses—by mid-2017, the "Qixinbao" enterprise information query platform recorded over 3,900 companies involved in e-cigarettes, and by July 2018, the number had exceeded 5,000.
