Mad Dog X Box Mod Review

I have been in the vaping scene for about half a year now and have a general understanding of electronic cigarettes. While browsing forums, I rarely see information about the Mad Dog X, which left me with little reference when I bought it. Finally, I got the Mad Dog X, and I want to share a simple and objective overview, not a review, but rather my impressions, hoping to provide some reference for those who are considering buying the Mad Dog X.

Now, let’s talk about my impressions:

Pros: 1. It looks really good; anyone who sees it will say it looks nice. My colleagues at work all think it’s great, regardless of gender.

2. The paint doesn’t chip as much as people say; mine is the original color, which is gunmetal. Other colors might chip more severely.

3. The battery cover has a great feel when removing and installing, consisting of six strong magnets, so you can be assured that the battery cover won’t easily fall off.

4. The breathing light is blue and very cool; it can be adjusted (one mode is off until you vape, and the other is always on; you know how breathing lights work).

5. Performance-wise, it’s excellent; it fires quickly and responsively, much better than the Solomini I bought previously at Huailimen. The 200W fully supports both pre-built atomizers and DIY setups. It was supposed to support online upgrades, but the official website says this feature is not fully developed yet. However, if there are minor issues with the system, you can still resolve them through firmware updates, which is quite convenient. If you don’t want to change devices, it can last you through your vaping journey.

7. The thickness of the device is sufficient to accommodate larger atomizers; I’m currently using a 25mm Ammit, and I thought it would look oversized, but it fits harmoniously.

8. Regarding its feel, those with small hands should consider carefully; it’s really hefty (don’t forget its weight). While others can hold it with one hand, we have to hold it with both hands, which might feel a bit awkward.

Cons: 1. There is still some paint chipping around the connection area with the atomizer; you’ll notice a half-circle mark after unscrewing the atomizer.

2. The edges of the main device are not as sharply cut as those of the Steam Monster; the edges are quite rounded, which feels nice (I initially thought it would have diamond cuts, but I was a bit disappointed when I found out it didn’t, so I categorized this as a con, just my personal opinion).

3. The craftsmanship on the edges of the main panel is not very symmetrical, and the USB port is not very regular (I’m a bit of a perfectionist, but when using it, don’t worry too much about the details; just vape!).

4. It’s really heavy; the box plus two batteries and an atomizer is quite heavy, making it uncomfortable to carry in your pocket. I don’t have an accurate electronic scale nearby, but I roughly estimate it weighs about as much as two and a half iPhone 6s. It’s hard to hold onto when your hands are slippery.

5. When standing the box upright, you need to place it slowly; if you do it too quickly, it wobbles a bit, as the base isn’t very stable.

Personally, I think both the Mad Dog X and the Hundred Ghost look great, but the Sub-ohm offers the best value for money; it’s the most comfortable price among the three, and it looks good too, leaning more towards a business style, but also has flashy options (like the resin version). The performance of the Sub-ohm is also commendable, with 157W being sufficient for daily use. I’m not a wealthy person; I believe in buying what suits you. If you want to get used to the feel of vaping, you can start with the Sub-ohm; if you have a bigger budget and don’t mind the weight, you can buy the Mad Dog X; if you have an even bigger budget and prefer a Japanese style, then go for the Hundred Ghost; if you just want to indulge a bit, buying a big G is also fine. When the differences in your choices aren’t significant, it’s even more important to choose what suits you, right?

Overall, I really like the Mad Dog X; it’s a device worth purchasing. It also has temperature control curves and such, but I usually prefer using wattage mode, so I haven’t researched those features much. I won’t elaborate here to avoid misleading new users. When you like something, you tend to overlook its flaws, right?

Regarding usage methods, the combination of buttons, such as pressing the fire button five times to turn it on and off, I won’t elaborate here. New users should just ask the person selling you the device if you have questions; if you don’t understand, just ask. Experienced users can refer to the manual.
