Is the e-cigarette brand ranking on ZOL a misleading list?

As e-cigarettes have become popular, ZOL (Zhongguancun Online), China's leading technology portal, has also turned its attention to e-cigarettes. A few days ago, I accidentally came across an e-cigarette message and clicked on it, which led me to ZOL's official website. I was quite surprised at first, thinking I had clicked the wrong site, but after a closer look, I realized that ZOL had launched an "e-cigarette" category.

In people's impression, ZOL is an IT news website where people typically go to buy mobile phones, laptops, and cameras. Especially for mobile phones, people are accustomed to entering ZOL, searching for the phone model they want to buy, checking reviews, specifications, and comparing prices before purchasing from Taobao, Tmall, JD, or physical stores. This is because ZOL provides comprehensive information, with a reasonable layout, comparison features, brand rankings, and product popularity displays, making it very thorough.     Which category do e-cigarettes fall under? Clicking on the logo at the top left of the website to return to the homepage, I saw eight major categories: mobile phones, laptops, tablets, digital cameras, hardware peripherals, corporate office, home appliances, and automobiles, with some subcategories displayed under each major category. After repeated checks, I did not see an e-cigarette category under the eight major categories displayed on the homepage. I also clicked on each of the eight major category pages, but still did not find an e-cigarette category.  Is the e-cigarette brand ranking on ZOL a misleading list? This is strange; I clearly saw an e-cigarette category, but now I cannot find it. So which category does it belong to? Clicking on the previous message, I found that e-cigarettes are categorized under health and lifestyle. Currently, the health and lifestyle category includes: foot baths, massagers, electronic scales, pedometers, sit-up machines, treadmills, exercise bikes, health desks and chairs, oxygen concentrators, health devices, hearing aids, thermometers, blood glucose monitors, blood pressure monitors, portable monitors, and other 15 major products. Adding e-cigarettes makes it a total of 16 products.     On the right side of the website, there is an e-cigarette brand ranking, and I see that the current number one is a brand called "Lanting." I had never heard of this brand before. Below that is the "E-cigarette Popularity Ranking," where the top product is the Lanting SK1, priced at 269 yuan, and it appears to be a disposable e-cigarette, which piqued my curiosity.     Clicking into this product page, I saw a summary introduction, pricing, images, parameters, reviews, forums, videos, etc., with the main parameters displayed including: atomizer capacity, number of puffs, full charge, atomizer resistance, atomizer size, atomizer weight, battery performance, charging time, battery life, etc., very detailed. Looking at the upper right corner, I saw the term "cooperative brand," which indicates that this brand is a partner brand with ZOL, which explains why it ranks first. The brand's address is in Chaoyang District, Beijing, and it also displays a phone number, email, and QQ chat icon. After checking, I found that this was the only brand with the "cooperative brand" label. It seems that it has only recently been included in the e-cigarette category. The ranking lacks authority. Is the e-cigarette brand ranking on ZOL a misleading list?    At the bottom of the website, there is a "Complete List of E-cigarette Brand Prices," and upon clicking, I found 318 brands listed, but 90% are unknown, names I have never heard of before, and I don't know where they were sourced from. The true top 10 brands in China are not listed at all. Only a few popular product names are displayed. It seems that some popular product model names are being treated as brand names.
ZOL still has a very large traffic volume; according to official data, the daily average visits have reached 120 million, with over 29 million registered users, and 1.5 million daily online users, impacting over 8 million IT procurement users daily. It is the preferred website for IT product procurement across the country, providing powerful commercial information dissemination for businesses and merchants, with influence covering seven major regions in China and hundreds of large, medium, and small cities.     However, e-cigarettes are not ZOL's main business. The launch of the "e-cigarette" category has led to rumors that to get on the e-cigarette brand ranking, one only needs to pay, and many e-cigarette brands do not have proper business licenses and safety testing; they do not care about these issues, only focusing on collecting money. Here, I hope ZOL can raise its ethical standards and not pursue monetary interests at the expense of e-cigarette users. I hope e-cigarette brands can consciously resist this pay-for-ranking method to promote their brands, and focus more on product development and user experience, contributing to the healthy development of the e-cigarette industry.
