According to British American Tobacco, results recently published on its official website show that the company’s performance in the second half of 2017 will meet the targets set at the beginning of the year.
The data shows that in fiscal 2017, the company achieved its goal of continued profit growth. At the same time, its core business—cigarette sales—also performed well. Despite a 4 percent decline in total sales volume across the tobacco industry in 2017, the company was still able to deliver profit growth.
Regarding the company’s global acquisitions and mergers, a British American Tobacco executive noted that the acquisition of Reynolds American has officially entered the integration phase, and Reynolds American’s performance has been particularly strong. At the same time, British American Tobacco has also observed that its global key and drive brands are continuing to increase local market share, although the company has also encountered difficulties in some markets.
Since July 2017, the company’s products have delivered strong results in challenging markets including Russia, Brazil, Malaysia, Ukraine, Canada, Germany, Romania, Bangladesh, and South Africa.
In addition, the company’s new heated tobacco products have also performed well in several national markets, especially in Japan, where its Glo device has captured a 2.7 percent market share.
