On the morning of November 7, the Seventh Session of the Conference of the Parties to the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control opened in Delhi, India.
At the opening ceremony, the conference reviewed the progress made in tobacco control around the world over the past two years. According to disclosures, the decades-long trend of rising cigarette sales in low-income countries has changed, with many countries seeing significant declines in cigarette sales. This session discussed topics including illicit trade in tobacco products, implementation of Article 5.3 of the Convention, regulation of tobacco product contents, and the control and prevention of new products such as shisha and vaping products.
