4th-Generation IQOS 3.0 & 3.0 MULTI E-Cigarettes: Full Unboxing and Review of the Brand-New Models

On October 22, PMI, the world's largest tobacco company Philip Morris International, held a press conference in Tokyo, Japan, announcing the launch of its latest products, IQOS 3.0 and IQOS 3.0 Multi, on November 15, 2018.

The new products are already on sale, but there is still little known about the improvements and upgrades made to them. Now, I will explain in detail what the new IQOS models differ from the old ones!

The appearance has changed significantly; after unboxing, the contents remain the same: the main device, cotton swabs, and cleaning balls. The only difference is that the cleaning ball has become slimmer, or rather, it should be called a cleaning stick. The cleaning device has been upgraded to a gel pad rolling method, similar to the design of a car wiper, which better prevents damage to the heating element. Of course, the new cleaning stick is also compatible with the 2.4PLUS model, and although the appearance has changed, the parameters of the heating element remain the same.

The charger has been upgraded to a USB Type-C interface, which has improved charging speed. Many Android phones now use this type of round port. Due to the change in appearance, the way to remove the heating stick has also changed. You must have seen the video; even if the heating stick is inverted, it will not fall out because it is held in place by magnets. Additionally, because of the magnetic attraction, the heating stick can be removed from various angles without needing to align it like the 2.4PLUS model when charging. The different removal method also aims to prevent the previous issue of the charging compartment lid being easily damaged. The charging time for the heating stick has also been improved, with the official data indicating a reduction of 40 seconds, now approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

IQOS 3.0 MULTI

The IQOS 3.0 MULTI can be described as a brand new all-in-one device. It is compact, weighing only about 50 grams, making it very portable. The new generation device has a small cover for inserting the tobacco sticks, which can be easily opened with a finger. For easy cleaning, the top can also be directly removed using a specialized cleaning tool. The biggest feature of this model is that it allows for continuous use; when fully charged, it can support the use of several tobacco sticks in succession. However, considering the purpose of using IQOS as an alternative to smoking, and the original design intention of IQOS not allowing continuous use, it is still recommended to use it in a non-continuous manner to indirectly control smoking frequency.

Here, I will introduce several changes in the new IQOS.

IQOS 3:

1. The bottom of the IQOS 3 charging case has been added with magnets, making it less likely for the heating stick to fall out and reducing the occurrence of poor contact at the charging port.

2. The charging port of the IQOS 3 has been upgraded to a Type-C interface, making it more convenient.

3. The appearance has changed significantly, with a side-press pop-up compartment, making it more rounded overall. The width has been reduced for easier portability.

4. The red light issue of the heating stick has been greatly improved.

5. There are more and richer color options.

6. The heating time of the heating stick has been shortened by about 30 seconds.

7. The heating time of the heating element has increased from the original 180 seconds to 200 seconds.

The heating is more even and sufficient, resulting in a better taste.
