To this end, Reynolds American Tobacco has submitted a proposal for an e-cigarette consumption tax to the government: a consumption tax of 5 cents per milliliter of e-liquid, which is relatively low compared to the current federal cigarette tax rate of 45 cents per pack in the U.S. Data shows that a regular cigarette can provide about 10 puffs to consumers, while a typical e-cigarette can provide around 200 puffs.
