In May 2017, the American National Standards Institute first published the UL 8139 standard for vaping products. In June 2018, the UL 8139 safety standard for vaping products was recognized by both the American National Standards Institute and the Standards Council of Canada, officially becoming a North American national standard and the only recommended standard for vaping products entering the U.S. market.
