The Hong Kong SAR Government Will Regulate Rather Than Ban E-Cigarettes

According to reports from the Harbour Times, the sales of e-cigarette products and similar smoking devices are on the rise in Hong Kong, and the government’s stance is to regulate rather than ban these products.
In an interview with media reporters, a representative from the government’s health and food regulatory department, named Sophia Chan, pointed out that while the government is concerned about the potential health risks posed by e-cigarette products and similar smoking devices, there is also concern that these products could serve as an indirect means of enticing minors to smoke. Therefore, e-cigarette products should undergo strict public health reviews by government authorities.
Recently, the governments of Canada and New Zealand have decided to implement policies to regulate e-cigarette products, and thus, the Hong Kong government will also regulate these products but will not impose a direct ban.
