Grimm Green Team Interview: Nicotine Salts and the Rise of Pod Devices

Grimm, what do you think the public's perception of e-cigarettes is now? Is it still seen as a toy for bad boys, or has it become more mainstream and accessible?
Thank you! I really enjoy the content you create! Hi Xiahou Dun! I think e-cigarettes became a meme in 2017. By the end of the year, I noticed fewer and fewer people using "hardcore vape" images. As more people recognize its role in smoking cessation, e-cigarettes have gradually shed their negative image. In my daily life, I see more and more ordinary people vaping, like construction workers, Uber drivers, or even grandmothers sitting in the park. People used to be misled by some memes about e-cigarettes, but now they are taking it seriously.
Nick, in this post-regulation era, how do you think the industry has changed compared to before May 2016?
Hey Joanna! There’s no doubt that it has changed. I’ve been fully invested in this community and industry since its early days. Back in 2009, we were at a loss. We didn’t dare to promote it; yes, I admit that we hoped things would proceed quietly because we knew the government could step in at any moment and ruin everything. This long battle seemed endless, but finally, I see a glimmer of hope. I firmly believe that e-cigarettes can change the world, and I understand that achieving this goal requires tremendous effort—because we have already worked hard to get to where we are today.
Hey Grimm!
Do you have any insights on synthetic nicotine and nicotine salts? With the rise of pod devices, I’m unsure whether I should focus solely on pods in the future. Thanks!
Hey Clayton! The e-cigarette industry, like any other industry, depends on the market. Understanding the market is key. I wouldn’t say that nicotine salts or TFN are just a passing trend, but I do think that after the initial hype, like everything else in this industry, there will be a slowdown, such as the transition from mouth-to-lung to direct lung, mechanical mods, and temperature control. After nine years immersed in this industry, the only thing I can be sure of is that everything has its cycles. Perhaps nicotine salts will fade in a few months, but there will still be a loyal fan base, and after some time, they may rise again.
