Recently, there have been many reviews of the SMOK X-PRIV 225W kit, and most people might first think of full-screen smartphones, with the vivo X20 being synonymous with full screens. These types of phones attract users with their large viewing angles and powerful camera functions, bringing a new experience that has gradually become popular. Recently, the well-known brand SMOK has also launched its own "full-screen" product, the SMOK X-PRIV kit, which is an equally enticing dual-battery kit.
To be honest, the moment I saw the 3D rendering of the SMOK X-PRIV on the packaging, I was truly amazed. Its slim and elegant shape, dazzling appearance, and substantial texture completely exceeded my imagination of electronic cigarettes. Of course, this was just my initial impression from the rendering; the actual performance would have to wait until I opened the packaging to find out. Tempted by the rendering, I eagerly opened the packaging, and I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it really is quite nice. As per tradition, I suppressed my excitement and involuntarily began to count the items in the package: 1*X-PRIV main device, 1*TFV12 Prince atomizer, 1*spare atomizer coil, 1*spare straight glass tank, 1*USB charging cable, 1*accessory pack, 1*product manual, 1*safety warning card, and 1*warranty card.
In fact, the development of electronic cigarettes is similar to that of smartphones. As the appearance becomes increasingly homogenized and hardware continues to pile up endlessly, players are gradually experiencing aesthetic fatigue. Therefore, manufacturers have adjusted their thinking, seeking new breakthroughs to create more outstanding products. Among them, SMOK has not only greatly improved the craftsmanship and feel of its products but has also focused on the display screen, the first window for human-computer interaction.
On SMOK's official website, the manufacturer has touted the SMOK X-PRIV as a "full-screen" device, which is indeed very attractive. However, when the screen lights up, it seems a bit disappointing: "Where is the promised full screen?" In fact, the full screen defined by the manufacturer for the SMOK X-PRIV is not the same concept as a smartphone's full screen; it refers to the entire panel used on the front. Nevertheless, the 2.0-inch display of the SMOK X-PRIV still shows quite well against the black panel.
In reality, using a full touch screen is technically no longer difficult, but the high price will deter most players. Additionally, using a touch screen on an electronic cigarette seems a bit wasteful; it is best to use things for their intended purpose, and a 2.0-inch display is clearly more appropriate here. So what I want to say is: "It is not the 'full screen' you think it is!"
The aesthetics of the SMOK X-PRIV need no further explanation, as they are already evident. It feels like a work of art, a product that is simple yet beautiful. You might not be impressed by it, but if you call it "ugly," it only shows that your taste is quite heavy.
Since the SMOK X-PRIV adopts a compact design, it is relatively small, measuring 88*46.5*30.4MM. Many players might mistakenly think it is a single-battery device, but when you open the battery cover on the back, you will start to doubt your judgment: "This is clearly a dual-battery device." Its small form is not only pleasing to the eye but also provides a good feel, making it advantageous for carrying.
Of course, a good feel cannot simply be determined by size; the key is how well the edges of the device are polished and how the paint finish is handled. In the image, we can see that the edges of the SMOK X-PRIV are rounded off quite smoothly, and the body features a mirror-like electroplated spray finish.
Additionally, the front and back panels are slightly raised, which not only enhances the aesthetics of the SMOK X-PRIV but also improves the comfort of the grip. In actual use, it feels full and substantial, fitting snugly and smoothly in hand.
However, this mirror-like electroplated finish may feel noticeably slippery for players with sweaty hands and is also prone to fingerprints and dust. Of course, this spray finish does significantly enhance the product's aesthetics, and I personally feel the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
As mentioned earlier, the front of the SMOK X-PRIV is essentially covered by a solid black panel, making the entire device appear very minimalist. At the same time, without compromising the visual appeal and while retaining user habits, the +/- buttons are designed at the bottom right corner, which strikes a good balance between practicality and aesthetics.
In fact, the SMOK X-PRIV not only features a full-screen front but also a full-screen back, albeit with a textured effect. This honeycomb-patterned design, combined with a pearlescent paint effect, makes the appearance of the SMOK X-PRIV even more perfect. In fact, this back also serves as the battery cover, using a strong magnetic connection method, with meticulous craftsmanship and internal decoration. The fit with the body after connection is also quite good.
Using a large panel tests not only the craftsmanship but also the airtightness, as any dust inside the panel can severely affect the product's aesthetics, especially for players with obsessive-compulsive tendencies.
In fact, the airtightness of the SMOK X-PRIV is quite excellent. In the five days since I received it, I have kept it in my bag and pocket, and aside from some dust on the surface, the interior has remained clean, which also shows that the craftsmanship of the SMOK X-PRIV is quite exquisite.
The use of a large fire button can be said to be a patent of SMOK, but the fire button on the SMOK X-PRIV has been innovated. It is no longer the stiff and clunky design of the past but is fully integrated into the body, providing a good hidden effect. Unless specifically pointed out, many players might not even notice the existence of the fire button.
Additionally, the designer has for the first time placed the fire button on the right side, which I believe is mainly to highlight operational convenience. In actual use, the effect is very good, whether operated with the left hand or the right hand, it can be perfectly reached.
Moreover, the UI interface of the SMOK X-PRIV has changed compared to recent products, with a more modern display style, while the system settings still adhere to unchanged principles. This similarity in settings can reduce the trouble of players having to readjust. For specific setting methods, please refer to the relevant experience introduction of the SMOK MAG kit in the official account.
As for the atomizer paired with the SMOK X-PRIV, veteran players should be quite familiar with it; it is the TFV12 Prince atomizer launched by SMOK at the end of last year. Its characteristics are bold design and large capacity, with great flavor and massive vapor being its nature. The patented locking system is its safety feature, and what’s more, it not only supports four types of pre-made atomizer coils but also supports RBA components, which is important for players who enjoy DIY.
Of course, if you find the TFV12 Prince atomizer too large, you can use your usual atomizer, as the SMOK X-PRIV's main device can also perfectly match it.
No one is perfect, and the same goes for any electronic cigarette product. Although the manufacturer defining the SMOK X-PRIV as a "full screen" might be a bit of a stretch, both its aesthetics and craftsmanship have reached a high standard, especially in terms of feel, and it also possesses a rather powerful output capability. It is indeed a rare and excellent product. Regarding the mirror-like electroplated finish of the body, it may receive some complaints from certain players. However, if you appreciate the appearance of this finish, you might overlook its minor flaws of being "prone to fingerprints and dust."
