VVILD Xiaoye Vaping Device Product Experience Report

Last month, I stumbled upon the official trial application information on Weibo. I applied without much hope and was unexpectedly selected as a trial user, thus I got my hands on a VVILD Xiaoye electronic cigarette.

As a heavy smoker and advocate of electronic cigarettes, I have used many vaping devices, so I initially had low expectations for Xiaoye. At first glance, the appearance of this generation of products brought to mind terms like "following trends," "OEM," and "public model," which seemed unrelated to "high quality." However, after using it for a few days, I was extremely shocked: it turned out to be the best product I have ever used. The solid craftsmanship and thoughtful design distributed throughout the product make the overall experience of Xiaoye stand out, replacing other brands and becoming my choice for long-term use.

I believe that an excellent electronic cigarette needs to meet three essential conditions:

1. Battery Life

2. Satisfaction

3. No Leakage

1. Design & Battery Life

Xiaoye has a square design with sharp edges, and the ample internal space is sufficient to accommodate a larger capacity battery. This allows Xiaoye to be used comfortably for a whole day on a single charge. Compared to Fulu, although the latter's industrial design far exceeds that of Xiaoye, its slender and rounded design, combined with a vibration module that vibrates every 15 puffs, results in limited space for the battery. When I used Fulu, it often ran out of power by evening, forcing me to hurriedly look for a power bank, which was somewhat inconvenient. Considering the degradation of battery life, the capacity issue of Fulu's battery could become particularly acute after a few months. For me, I might be willing to sacrifice some aesthetics for longer battery life.
 
Xiaoye uses a Type-C charging port and a mouthpiece that can be inserted either way, making both charging and cartridge replacement seamless. I bought a RELX electronic cigarette for my grandfather, and when he first used it, he told me he couldn't produce any vapor. Upon checking, I found that he had simply inserted the mouthpiece incorrectly. Therefore, the product design must include "fool-proof design" to avoid sacrificing user experience for the uniqueness of the mouthpiece, which could cause unnecessary trouble for users.

2. Satisfaction

For electronic cigarettes to replace traditional cigarettes, a necessary condition is to provide a satisfaction level close to that of real cigarettes. This satisfaction is composed of three parts: draw resistance, vapor volume, and throat hit. Fulu performs poorly in terms of satisfaction; first, it requires significant effort to produce vapor, especially when leaning or lying down, making it likely unusable. This may lead users to draw on Fulu with the same force as traditional cigarettes, resulting in limited vapor production, which in turn leads to a weak throat hit and less nicotine intake per puff compared to traditional cigarettes. These factors directly contribute to Fulu's lack of satisfaction and inability to provide a near-real cigarette experience.

Upon closer examination, this may also be due to Fulu's slender design (though I'm not certain). The bottom of the electronic cigarette cartridge needs two contact points: one for magnetic attraction and the other for atomization. Due to Fulu's slender design, it cannot accommodate four components side by side. Since the magnetic component does not need direct contact, Fulu cleverly adopted a structure where the outer layer is magnetic and the inner layer is for atomization, merging the contact points for atomization and magnetic attraction. Xiaoye's flat body, however, has enough space to accommodate four contact points, which may be why Xiaoye's atomization effect is good, with low draw resistance, providing strong satisfaction.
 
3. No Leakage

Leakage is a common issue in the electronic cigarette industry. The taste of nicotine is very harsh, and if one accidentally inhales e-liquid, it can be quite painful. Xiaoye has almost achieved zero leakage; other brands often have cartridges that are covered in leaked e-liquid when removed, but during my days of using Xiaoye, the exterior of the cartridge has always been dry, and I have not inhaled any e-liquid, which pleasantly surprised me. Many users have also praised Xiaoye's handling of leakage issues on Weibo. No leakage provides users with a strong sense of safety, and I don't know how they solved the leakage problem, but I have to give them a thumbs up!#p#分页标题#e#

4. Detailed Cartridge Features

Convenient Tear-Open

The cartridge packaging uses a tear-open design, with three cartridges stored independently in their respective containers, making it easy to take one out when needed. This packaging design prevents interference between cartridges during unboxing and is also convenient for carrying.
 
High Recognition and Easy to Insert/Remove Protective Sleeve

Compared to the translucent silicone protective sleeves used by other brands, Xiaoye uses colorful plastic as the leak-proof protective sleeve for the cartridges. Many users who carry several different flavored cartridges may find this design helpful in quickly identifying the flavor of the cartridge. Additionally, the friction resistance between plastics is lower than that between silicone and plastic, making the protective sleeve easy to insert and remove.
 
Double Protection Leak-Proof Plug

From the image, it can be vaguely seen that the leak-proof plug provided by Xiaoye has a complete circle of protruding rings on the plug, while the diameter of the mouthpiece is slightly smaller than that of the ring.
 
The benefit of this design is that when the piston is inserted into the mouthpiece, it will firmly block the oil outlet, preventing the plug from slipping out during use, and also preventing e-liquid from backflowing from the oil inlet inside the cartridge chamber.

4. Areas for Improvement

Of course, Xiaoye is not perfect. Due to its square design, the grip feel is not great, and the fit between the mouthpiece and lips is not particularly good. The next generation of products could moderately increase the roundness of the mouthpiece to make the fit between the cartridge and lips more comfortable.

Additionally, like all electronic cigarettes, the indicator light on the device flashes when the battery is about to run out. However, I believe it would be better to start indicating when there is enough battery for 15-30 puffs (equivalent to 1-2 cigarettes). In many situations, smoking is inconvenient, and if a user takes a few puffs outdoors only to find the battery dead, they would need to return indoors to get a power bank, wasting time and causing a strong sense of disappointment.

The mouthpiece design is overly opaque, making it difficult to see the remaining e-liquid when it is below 1/2 full. It could be enhanced like Fulu, with a black coating on the upper part of the mouthpiece for a more premium feel, while the lower part could be semi-transparent to allow users to see the remaining e-liquid clearly.
 
In summary, from the overall product experience, Xiaoye offers long battery life, satisfaction close to that of real cigarettes, and almost no leakage, which are the core competitive advantages of an electronic cigarette. From initially overlooking Xiaoye to being pleasantly surprised after use, and finally choosing Xiaoye as my long-term daily electronic cigarette, it truly exceeded my expectations.
