Some Thoughts on Shooting a Vaping Product Image Film

E-cigarettes are electronic products that mimic traditional cigarettes, having the same appearance, smoke, taste, and feel. They work by vaporizing nicotine and other substances into vapor for users to inhale. Essentially, they are still tobacco products, but the physical form has changed. Anyway, let's get back on track; this product also requires packaging and promotion. As a commodity, it is necessary to have an image for publicity.
Over the years, I have shot many cases, from the initial imitation of cigarette shapes to the current refined and compact industrial products, which is a gradual maturation process for the product. In the future, it may become even smarter!
The initial designs were quite interesting, resembling real cigarettes in shape, length, and even color, almost identical to traditional cigarettes. Human progress often starts with imitation :)
This is the most common scene, casually puffing away in a coffee shop or outdoors. The early e-cigarette designs were very similar to ladies' menthol cigarettes, which could be worn as a necklace, making them very convenient to use, resembling a ballpoint pen. This design can be considered the first generation; I started shooting with this design. Using two top lights combined with ambient light at dusk can create neon light tones and warm evening hues, which is very sentimental...
Look how realistic it is, haha.
At this time, the design was still quite niche, mainly for export, where the boss was the model, and the model was the boss. But honestly, aside from having a belly, the aura was decent, after all, he was a foreigner.
This is the boss's friend, not a model. After all, it was a low-budget shoot; it was enough to have some meaning. Eastern Europe isn't wealthy, so we should be understanding :)
IBM props, just powered on. I actually wanted to use the laptop to reflect light; the IBM screen is gray, and that's how business laptops are.
The small bar in Shajing was still quite simple. If it were replaced with the current Shekou area, it would definitely be upscale.
Looks like he has been smoking for a while.
Everyone is out, a chaotic scene!
Now, there is a gradual focus on visual effects, from products to images, all being taken seriously. Entering studios, coffee shops, and real scene sets, the quality of the shots is gradually improving, armed to the teeth. This is the trend; in the e-commerce era, images are paramount. First, they must attract attention, and there must be a sense of brand identity. This is necessary and essential; is the era progressing?!
The model from Argentina seems to have a great quality :)
Brand perception, series sense, design sense, aesthetics, and quality have become particularly important, and the size is also very compact.
The brand image has emerged. Now, creating a brand is paramount; there must be a primary image appeal and a sense of sentiment! Of course, this is built over time. The packaging of visual language needs to be well-managed by the brand. The product is like one's child; healthy and robust growth is the most important.
White within white, black within black, Swiss Braun lighting is absolutely transparent, combined with the MOLA radar dome, the person looks very textured, particularly mature. Over the years, I have always liked using Braun for portrait photography; the resulting images have a very solid quality, and the color temperature is excellent, the top-notch lighting, no exceptions.
There is an old saying in China that goes, "To do a good job, one must first sharpen their tools."
High-end suits and luxury watches, wise eyes and gentlemanly shapes, a blue-black suit against a deep black background, incredibly cool. Combined with the golden e-cigarette's texture, a striking poster image was born. Good things require ample preparation and skilled lighting use, as well as exquisite post-production; none can be omitted. Even the output production of the final piece is crucial; there are no shortcuts to good works.
In fact, being a model is also very challenging. This foreigner doesn't smoke; he's a good guy. Unfortunately, to create this brand image, he managed to finish all the e-liquid in four hours. A small bottle of e-liquid is equivalent to a pack of cigarettes, and over ten bottles of e-liquid mean he smoked half a pack while shooting a set of images. It's quite a feat...#p#分页标题#e#
A relaxed pose...
Three-dimensional facial contours, a thoughtful model...
A big guy, good muscles! Does he look like a western cowboy? Isn't he very rugged? It reminds me of American cowboys!
The vibe at the coffee shop is quite nice, and fortunately, there aren't many people. Smoking is not allowed here, so I had to sneak a couple of puffs and quickly leave. The state of being relaxed and intoxicated is fantastic, but taking an environmental shot is very challenging, as if a vendor is dodging the city management...
Here, I can't bring big lights; I can only turn on high sensitivity with slow speed and use the top light to capture the environment. Finding the balance of light is very important, balancing ambient light and artificial light is key; the rest is just candid shots.
The corner stairs and concrete walls have a great feel; this is a good spot for shooting. Come on, hold tight, "cheese," and quickly leave, haha, by the way, he doesn't understand Chinese but clearly understands the posing requirements.
Shooting in these coffee shops requires a lot of audacity and shamelessness. I often see peers being kicked out, but fortunately, we always consume first and then shoot. Until next time, I need to include more behind-the-scenes content and express more gratitude. It's been a while since I wrote, and I'm a bit rusty...
