What Is the Difference Between the 4th-Gen IQOS 3.0, Traditional Vaping Devices, and Cigarettes?
I’ve had the 4th-gen IQOS 3.0 for quite a while now. I’d been meaning to write a guide, but kept putting it off until now. Today, a friend happened to ask me about it, so I organized my thoughts and decided to post them here as well.
The 4th-gen IQOS 3.0 is not the first vaping device I’ve used. I had some prior experience with similar products, so naturally I had points of comparison when using this one. So today, I’ll mainly talk about the differences between the 4th-gen IQOS 3.0, other vaping devices, and cigarettes.
1. Compared with traditional vaping devices.
Compared with traditional vaping devices, the biggest difference in the IQOS line is that IQOS uses "heat-not-burn" technology. This is different from the vaporization technology commonly used in typical vaping devices. The aerosol it produces is warm, and the sensation when inhaling feels very similar to a real cigarette. Since I’ve been smoking cigarettes for many years, I’m fairly demanding when it comes to tobacco taste. One reason I never stuck with previous vaping devices was that their flavor and sensation just weren’t satisfying enough. But with this 4th-gen IQOS 3.0, using it genuinely feels like "smoking," and when cravings hit, it does the job. This is especially important for people who want to quit cigarettes, because only when the experience is similar can it gradually replace cigarettes and help users quit.
2. Compared with cigarettes.
One major highlight of the 4th-gen IQOS 3.0 is "no ash, reduced harm." For smokers, these are two especially valuable advantages. During use, it really produces no ash at all, and there is very little secondhand smoke. You can use it directly indoors, and family members can barely smell anything, which is very reassuring.
But the biggest difference is still in terms of harm reduction. First, the nicotine and tar content in the tobacco itself is very low in the 4th-gen IQOS 3.0. Nicotine is the main reason smokers become dependent, so when its level is reduced, users are less likely to develop a strong addiction, making it less worrying for those trying to quit. Tar is one of the main causes of the harm associated with cigarettes and is highly damaging to the respiratory tract and lungs, so IQOS reduces these risks right from the source.
In addition, during actual use, this IQOS minimizes bodily harm as much as possible. With its heat-not-burn method, the temperature the tobacco reaches is much lower than direct combustion, so harmful high-temperature substances such as tar and carbon monoxide are released only in very small amounts, making it much safer than cigarettes.
Whether compared from the perspective of vaping devices or cigarettes, this 4th-gen IQOS 3.0 has clear advantages of its own. I used to smoke about a pack of cigarettes a day, but over the past few days I’ve cut down to just four or five cigarettes daily. So for smokers with similar needs, it’s safe to give it a try.
